Aaron Phypers, the ex-husband of Denise Richards, was released from jail only hours after his arrest on Friday. He was arrested outside a Los Angeles courthouse and accused of domestic violence as part of their ongoing divorce proceedings. He is 53 years old.
Phypers was released from the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station the same night after posting a $200,000 bail, according to TMZ.
I’ve been frantically checking everywhere for any news, and apparently the Daily Mail tried to get a statement from both Phypers and Richards’ teams, but they haven’t gotten anything back yet! Seriously, anything! I’m dying to know what’s going on, and it’s killing me that we’re still waiting.
Earlier that day, Phypers and Richards were at a court hearing when deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department unexpectedly arrested him.
According to Phypers’ lawyer, he was arrested because of an existing warrant, which could be related to the claims of abuse made by Richards.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for Richards told Us Weekly that her ex was arrested for ‘spousal abuse.’

An eyewitness reported that Phypers was arrested right outside the courthouse and escorted away on a nearby escalator. He never returned to the hallway.
Richards, who was also at the courthouse, reportedly stayed ‘calm’ while speaking with ‘her team.’
One witness said Phypers looked “confused” when officers arrested him and didn’t seem to realize he was about to be taken into custody.
The couple, who are separated, were both present in court on Friday for a hearing about a restraining order. Richards gave their final statement after a lunch break.
According to one witness, eight officers were standing outside the courtroom at that moment, as reported by Us Weekly.
The hearing as well as Richards’ temporary restraining order have been extended to November 7.
Phypers filed for divorce from Richards in July, stating they had irreconcilable differences. They listed their separation date as July 4, 2025.
Just days after filing for divorce, Richards obtained a temporary restraining order.

The actress, formerly married to Charlie Sheen, claims her ex-husband, Phypers, caused her to suffer three concussions and that her relationship with Sheen was actually preferable.

Richards had previously posted a picture showing a black eye, but Phypers said she tends to bruise without much impact.
Court documents obtained by TMZ show that Phypers is asking for half of the money his soon-to-be ex-wife earned on OnlyFans.
He said the TV star made approximately $200,000 to $300,000 per month from the photos she posted online.
Phypers explained why he was asking for the photos, revealing that he was the one who originally took them and they had been shared on OnlyFans.
He also stated he’s struggling financially and needs money to cover rent and other bills.
I was really shocked to hear that Marcus Phypers asked his soon-to-be ex-wife for $150,000 – supposedly to cover his rent and legal fees. Apparently, she was absolutely furious about it, and honestly, I can see why!
From my experience helping people navigate these situations, it’s common for couples to share finances during their marriage. In this case, he previously had access to their shared accounts, but now states he no longer does. It’s a tricky area, and often requires clear documentation to sort out.
On Friday, Richards was spotted at the courthouse in Los Angeles wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and black pants.

She put on black heels and let her blonde hair fall in soft curls. She completed her outfit with a pair of fashionable sunglasses.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star recently shared more information about the alleged abuse she experienced with her ex-partner.
In court, while seeking to make a temporary restraining order against Phypers permanent, she testified that he had given her at least three concussions, according to People magazine.
The actress described an incident that occurred at a Chicago hotel in April 2025, stating that Phypers squeezed her head so tightly it felt like it was going to break.
You know, I’ve often talked about healthy relationships, and something I’ve heard from people is surprisingly positive about even difficult times. A friend of mine once said, despite a really rocky marriage, her ex ‘always fought fair.’ It sounds strange, but she actually felt that, even amidst the chaos, there was a level of respect because he never resorted to truly low blows. It’s a small thing, but it really stuck with me – sometimes, *how* someone fights is just as important as whether they fight at all.
A judge issued a temporary restraining order for the performer on July 16th, just days after their spouse filed for divorce.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the actress and her lawyers are making false claims, and he is confident he will win the case for a domestic violence protection order.
I was really following the case, and during the hearing, lawyers for Phypers played a video that Richards had filmed back in August. It was pretty impactful to see that evidence presented.

She contrasted her six-year marriage with her relationship with Charlie Sheen, whom she was married to from 2002 to 2005 and with whom she has two daughters: Sami, 21, and Lola, 20.
‘Things were bad with Charlie and I, but he never hit below the belt,’ she said.
In addition to her daughters with Sheen, the actress is also mother to adopted daughter Eloise, 14.
Phypers claimed he found out Richards had been having a months-long affair with Rudy Reyes, a former member of special forces, near the time their relationship ended.
In a letter to family and friends, she alleged that Rudy sent her explicit photos and videos, including a video of him naked and engaging in a sexual act.
He told DailyMail.com in a recent interview that he first suspected his wife was having an affair back in April.

He stated she had assured him she would end the relationship, but he later discovered she was untruthful. He found out she’d actually met up with Reyes again the next month at a Hilton Garden Inn in Burbank, California.
He said finding out about her May affair caused a huge fight over the Fourth of July weekend, and that she broke his phone during the argument.
Following Phypers’ divorce filing on July 7th, Richards responded with a request for a temporary restraining order. This request included accusations of domestic abuse, which Phypers strongly denies.
Richards and Phypers started dating in 2017 and got married the next year in Malibu.
