Denise Richards has been publicly discussing the alleged abuse she experienced during her separation from Aaron Phypers.
Denise Richards, 54, and her ex-husband, Aaron Phypers, 53, were back in a Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday. The hearing concerned a temporary restraining order Richards obtained against Phypers in July, and she is now seeking to make it permanent.
I was shocked to read the court documents – my husband, whom I married in 2018, apparently caused me to suffer at least three concussions, according to what she filed with the court. It’s just unbelievable.
The actress says that in April 2025, at a Chicago hotel, Phypers squeezed her head so tightly it felt like her skull was being crushed.
She also said that despite the difficulties in her marriage to Charlie Sheen, 60, it was preferable to her current situation because he always fought fair and never resorted to low blows.
DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Phypers and Richards.

On July 16th, Richards obtained a temporary restraining order, only 11 days after Phypers initiated divorce proceedings.
Okay, so I’m hearing from someone connected to Phypers that he and his lawyers strongly believe the allegations against him are completely false. They’re confident he’ll win the case regarding this domestic violence protection order and are preparing to prove that in court. Basically, he’s fighting back and feels very strongly about clearing his name.
The source added, ‘Denise is again behaving like a coward and the truth will prevail.’
The source also highlighted a statement Charlie Sheen made six years earlier, where he accused Denise Richards and her lawyers of consistently telling falsehoods.
‘If telling the truth is “below the belt” then so be it,’ the insider stated.
According to the source, Aaron will eventually be proven right, just as Charlie predicted. They questioned how someone who couldn’t prevent Denise from repeatedly breaking her promise to Aaron could be considered trustworthy in court, especially regarding a false claim of domestic violence.
Richards stated she discovered she had concussions after Phypers supposedly used equipment at his wellness center on her. She had previously told him she was experiencing headaches, feeling unwell, and nausea.
‘He scanned me, and it showed up that I had a concussion,’ she claimed.
Richards detailed one instance when she reportedly got a black eye in January 17, 2022.
She also stated that Phypers pushed her against a concrete wall in the carport of his wellness center, causing her head to hit the wall, sometime between March and May 2022.

Richards claims a third incident occurred at a Chicago hotel in April 2025, where Phypers allegedly lifted and squeezed her head so hard it felt like it was being crushed.
On the first day of her testimony, Richards stated that after she mentioned text messages with another man, Phypers began physically assaulting her – grabbing and pushing her down – while they were at a Chicago hotel for ComicCon.
She claimed he grabbed her face, and she told him he was going to leave a mark.
She also claimed she said, ‘Please stop, you’re hurting me.’
And on Tuesday, she discussed the headaches she got from the incidents calling them ‘very painful.’
She said there was a ‘constant throbbing’ and she felt ‘off balance’ and ‘nauseous.’
During questioning by the opposing lawyer, the actress confessed she hadn’t reported the incidents to the police and hadn’t received a concussion diagnosis from any doctor.
People reports that lawyers for Phypers presented a video Richards filmed in August during the hearing.
Richards drew a comparison between her six-year marriage and her earlier relationship with Sheen, whom she was married to from 2002 to 2005 and with whom she shares two daughters: Sami, 21, and Lola, 20.
‘Things were bad with Charlie and I, but he never hit below the belt,’ she said in the clip.
She admitted she hadn’t known him well, unlike her previous relationships. ‘I knew Charlie, and all my other exes,’ she explained, ‘but with you, I didn’t. And that’s made this incredibly difficult.’
‘I don’t even know who the f**k you are,’ she went on, adding, ‘And I gave you everything.’

Information about Denise Richards’ former husband came to light when the lawyer for her current husband, Aaron Phypers, included Charlie Sheen as a possible witness in upcoming legal proceedings.
Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen had a difficult and public separation. Richards filed for divorce in March 2005 while expecting their second child, and she accused Sheen of abuse.
During the court hearing, Richards stated she discovered proof that Phypers was unfaithful. She accused him of sending explicit photos and firmly denied any wrongdoing on her own part.
She said the divorce filing was a complete surprise. She confessed, ‘I truly believed he was the one for me.’
She also claimed he had repeatedly hit her, and that the abuse was escalating with each instance.
Witnesses said Richards became visibly upset while watching the video and was seen wiping away tears.
A family member testified that Richards’ husband, Phypers, allegedly punched her in the face, causing a visible black eye. This accusation came to light the day before.
Kathleen McAllister, a cousin of Phypers, testified on Monday, backing up Richards’ accusations that her former partner abused her. She gave her testimony remotely.
Oh my god, I actually *saw* it happen. It was January 17th, 2022, and I witnessed Aaron hit Denise. She immediately had this awful, terrible black eye. Honestly, even now, just thinking about it… it still shocks me to my core. I can’t get it out of my head.
During his testimony, Richards stated that Phypers frequently threatened to physically harm him, including throwing him out of windows and off balconies.
She alleged ‘He’s almost killed me so many damn times.’
She shared that their split began on July 4th, when she asked Phypers to move out of their home.
He became furious and erratic, invading my personal space. I had recently had a facelift and was still healing, with stitches behind my ears, which made me feel incredibly fragile.
Richards alleged their arguments frequently turned physical.
He would physically restrain me, grabbing my arms while shouting and using extremely abusive language. This included calling me names like ‘cheating whore,’ ‘cunt,’ and ‘lying bitch’.
She detailed how it made her feel ‘scared’ and ‘sad.’

‘It made me feel intimidated by him. He’s very big,’ she added. ‘I’m a lot smaller than him.’
In a court document filed in July, Richards alleged that Phypers repeatedly physically assaulted her. She stated he would often choke, slap, and hit her head, and once slammed her head into a towel rack. She also claimed he threatened her life and pinned her down, causing her to fear for her safety.
She also claimed he repeatedly threatened to physically harm her, saying he would “break my jaw.” He would then switch between crying, pleading with her to remain, and promising to seek help, but never followed through on any of those promises.
Phypers has previously denied all the accusations against him.
In a court document filed on September 15th, he claimed that Richards repeatedly attacked and harassed him.
