Denis Villeneuve to direct next James Bond film
In the upcoming James Bond saga, marking the 26th installment of this iconic series, Denis Villeneuve has been appointed director. Moreover, Villeneuve partners with Tanya Lapointe in their roles as executive producers for this highly anticipated project.
As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now overseeing the project production, taking over from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson who recently agreed to relinquish their creative control to Amazon MGM Studios.
In a statement, four-time Academy Award nominee Villeneuve expressed that some of his first cinema experiences were linked to 007. He recollected watching James Bond movies with his father, starting from ‘Dr. No’ featuring Sean Connery. Being an ardent Bond fan, he considers Bond’s world as hallowed ground. His aim is to preserve the legacy and pave the way for future missions. He acknowledged that this task is a significant responsibility yet, it is equally thrilling and a great honor for him, along with Amy, David, and himself. They are overjoyed at the prospect of bringing Bond back onto the screen once more.
