During a discussion at The Center for Youth Mental Health last year, Demi Lovato spoke about finding hope after completing their fifth stay in a treatment facility.
She explained to Us Weekly that things began to look up when she started appreciating the small joys in life. This was a new experience for her, as she’d grown accustomed to feeling hopeless.
The singer further expressed that medication has helped her and other people ‘tremendously.’
She said she initially felt overwhelmed and discouraged, but her spirits lifted as everything began to come together and make sense.
Lovato expressed gratitude for overcoming her past challenges, explaining that those experiences have molded her into the person she is today.
The actress married singer Jutes, also known as Jordan Lutes, in a romantic ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, back in May.

The couple met during a songwriting session for her 2022 rock album album Holy Fvck.
She said they were friends before their relationship turned romantic, and that she had really started to share her feelings with him around the time they became a couple.
I was fresh out of treatment, navigating early sobriety, and honestly, I was incredibly vulnerable. Everything felt so intense, and I didn’t have any of my old coping mechanisms to lean on. Thankfully, a friend stepped up and was a real lifeline, helping me work through a really difficult period of depression. He was just… there for me, and that made all the difference.
I’ve been so inspired watching Jutes navigate his own path to sobriety, and it meant a lot to see him publicly thank Demi Lovato for supporting him through it all. It’s amazing to see them lifting each other up!
He recently told People magazine that Demi’s support has been incredibly valuable. He admitted he might not have continued without her encouragement early on.
The beginning is definitely the most challenging part, and it never fully disappears. Even now, there are moments when I’m out and I think things would be more enjoyable if I were still drinking.
Jutes says he’s matured significantly and is now focused on a long and healthy life, especially since finding a deep connection with Lovato.
