Delta Goodrem’s longtime makeup artist shares behind-the-scenes details from singer’s Malta wedding – and reveals the beauty products she used on the big day

For eight years, Delta Goodrem’s makeup artist has shared an exclusive backstage perspective with fans, revealing insights into the Aussie celebrity’s wedding preparations.

Mia Hawkswell, in a relationship with renowned celebrity Richard Wilkins, is the creative mind behind many of Delta’s iconic styles. She has been instrumental in designing the looks for Delta’s Innocent Eyes 20th Anniversary Tour shows held in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as a Revlon campaign and numerous public appearances.

Currently, she has revealed details about Delta’s grandest occasion ever – her wedding to Matthew Copley in Malta – offering a peek into the events that transpired during her wedding festivities, following her role as makeup artist for the seven bridesmaids.

She shared with Nine Honey that her entire team was in attendance, creating an incredibly uplifting atmosphere brimming with affection and encouragement. She described the wedding as a magical experience to be involved in.

‘The entire week was everything you’d want, an intimate celebration of love,’ she said of the nuptials.

The atmosphere was filled with pure love and joy, and it was an absolute blast – I couldn’t get enough! Each moment feels like something I’d love to revisit all over again. They truly raised the standard for future events!

As an ardent admirer, let me share this delightful detail: Delta made it crystal clear that her makeup guidelines for the bridesmaids were straightforward yet profound. She wanted them to embody ‘what the girls desire’ and ‘help them feel their most authentic selves’.

She emphasized that the process relied on teamwork, as the bridesmaids would apply their own lipstick or mascara to conserve some time for each individual. They were incredibly cooperative and accommodating in this regard.

Because the weather in Malta is warm, Mia found it necessary to use skincare products for hydration and a strong-hold makeup setting spray to ensure her makeup stayed put throughout the day.

On that special occasion, Mia mentioned she utilized the Terry Hyaluronic Radiance Finish Spray, Sisley Protective Lip Balm, and Ilia Eye Lining Gel & Makeup For Ever Cream Eyeshadow Sticks.

During the big day, Mia spoke about employing the Terry Hydrating Glow Fix Mist, Sisley Nourishing Lip Balm, and Ilia Eye Definer & Makeup Forever Cream Shadow Pencils.

Additionally, she blended Kryolan Ultra Setting Spray and The Secret Skin Care Solar Serum 50+ protection to prepare the skin, resulting in a ‘luminous outcome’ for the bridesmaids.

Back in June, I was beyond thrilled to tie the knot with my beloved, Matthew Copley, in an exquisite wedding set against the picturesque backdrop of Malta. It truly was a day to remember!

The pop star shared the first look at her ‘fairytale’ wedding with Vogue Australia.

2025, June – The husband and wife’s experience was more enchanting than either of us had ever imagined, as expressed in a heartfelt Instagram post by the 40-year-old.

She went on, saying, “We exchanged our vows beneath the azure Maltese sky at a fairy-tale wedding that felt like magic, orchestrated by countless loved ones around us.

We cherish each recollection from that time, the affection, the joviality, the joy-filled tears, and the dance that continued until dawn broke.

On her wedding day, the radiant bride turned heads in a captivating off-the-shoulder dress, featuring a daringly alluring sweetheart neckline, skillfully crafted by renowned South Australian fashion designer Paul Vasileff.

The French tulle gown features gorgeous lattice detailing and a two-and-a-half metre train.

Delta collaborated with the designer for approximately three months to develop a dress that was exceptionally tailored to her and uniquely meaningful.

Delta shared with Vogue that Paul and I formed a bond as soon as I got engaged, and we began collaborating on the project right away.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share an intriguing detail about the stunning gown. This masterpiece, painstakingly crafted over approximately 500 hours, carries reminiscences of the romantic journey of the couple. Embellished within its very fibers are symbols significant to them: their wedding date, a pair of graceful swans, and cherubs, all meticulously embroidered.

At the 2016 Logie Awards, Vasileff was also responsible for styling Delta. He found collaborating with her an incredibly rewarding experience, describing it as a ‘perfect partnership’.

Delta and Matthew pledged their commitment to each other within the ancient walls of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina, a structure that dates back to the 12th century.

The event was held subsequently at the opulent Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar, a grand estate boasting stunning 18th-century gardens.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but notice how Delta gracefully switched into not one, but two more stunning outfits during the party, ensuring her comfort was top-notch for an unforgettable night of dancing alongside Conrad Sewell and Vince Pizzinga, serenading the A-list attendees.

Two gowns, tailor-made for the singer, were sketched out by the fashion designer Con Ilio, who is based in Melbourne. One of these dresses was adorned with hand-sewn pearls and crystals, making it perfect for a party.

The two dresses worn by the singer were custom-made by Melbourne-based couture designer Con Ilio. Among them was an evening gown lavishly embellished with hand-beaded pearls and crystals, ideal for parties.

The unique gold and diamond wedding rings crafted specifically for Delta and Matthew were designed by Anton Jewellery based in Melbourne.

In an interview with Vogue, the singer expressed that it was crucial for her to feel authentic on the day of the event. She emphasized that the appearance should be earthy and balanced amidst the fantastical atmosphere.

Delta’s makeup artist was Noni Smith, her hairstylist was Michael Brennan, and Meggy Smith oversaw the overall styling for the day.

Meanwhile, her partner was elegantly attired from head to toe in Tom Ford clothing, as Delta shared with Vogue. She also mentioned that she didn’t encounter Matt the evening preceding their vows, enhancing the enchantment of the moment.

According to Delta, every instant felt like a dream come true during the entire day and week we spent together. This surpassed anything we had ever imagined before, as she shared with Vogue.
