Delicious ending explained: What is Teodora’s dark plan?

Delicious ending spoilers follow.

Netflix has its own Saltburn meets Parasite thriller in new movie Delicious.

The film narrates the story of the prosperous German family consisting of Esther, John, their kids named Philipp and Alba. During their holiday at their French villa, their tranquil existence is shattered when they accidentally strike a woman named Teodora on their drive back home following dinner at a local inn.

They return Teodora home with an intention to compensate her to prevent a hospital visit since it was just a wound on her arm. However, the following day, she reappears at their villa, stating that her employment ended due to the injury and requests to work for them as a housekeeper instead.

From the outset, it’s clear that Teodora wasn’t being truthful about her car accident, since we witness her friend inflicting the injury on her prior to the event. However, we’re curious as to what Teodora might be planning or hiding.

Let’s dive right into the surprising finale of the movie ‘Delicious’. However, be warned that significant spoilers lie ahead if you haven’t already watched it.

Delicious ending explained: Eat the rich

In my gaming world, I didn’t need much time to crack the code on what seemed like an ideal union between Esther and John. It quickly became apparent that they were both dealing with their own unique frustrations.

Teodora persuades Esther to become involved romantically with her friend Lucien, while John is secretly dating Cora, their family acquaintance. Moreover, Teodora skillfully creates tension between the parents and their offspring, urging Philipp to develop a stronger social awareness and deceiving Esther about Alba supposedly stealing from her.

It seems evident that there are some unusual circumstances surrounding Teodora and her companions. For instance, Teodora consumes uncooked meat, Lucien keeps a substantial amount of fresh meat in sealed bags, and he appears unconcerned about Amber’s disappearance following an evening at the beach.

At Esther’s birthday party, she discovers some secrets when she attends with Lucien. Interestingly, Teodora also invited John, but he declined her invitation. While chatting with another guest, Esther uncovers a connection: both Teodora and Lucien had worked at the hotel where they dined before the supposed car accident.

Startled by the revelation, Esther heads to the restroom to splash some water on her face, but instead, the sink erupts with blood.

She attempts to depart, yet discovers herself in a space where one partygoer appears to be devouring another. Before she could proceed, Teodora intervenes and prevents her from exiting.

From the very beginning, Esther, I wasn’t your friend nor your servant. You misjudged our situation. Though your walls may seem impregnable, they can’t keep us apart. Your sanctuary is no longer secure. You can’t escape. This is because we are numerous, while you and yours are few.

After Lucien takes a bite from Esther’s neck, it seems that the other partygoers, including Teodora, also indulge in the same act. Unfortunately, our view shifts to the house where, following their appetizer, Teodora kills John and they probably savor their main course as well.

Or, more concisely:

Lucien bites into Esther’s neck, suggesting that all partygoers, including Teodora, partake in a similar act. We move our focus to the house where, post-appetizer, Teodora murders John and they likely relish their main dish.

Indeed, the term “Delicious” serves as a creative interpretation of the well-known quote often credited to philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau, “The people, when they have no more to eat, will eat the rich.

It appears that Teodora and her companions have a history of targeting affluent families unluckily crossed on their path, often feasting at their expense. Each member of the group carries a scar, suggesting they may have taken on Teodora’s role before, acting as victims injured by these wealthy families.

Amber was also one of the people who dined that evening at the beach. We observed her being swept underwater, and subsequently everyone enjoyed grilled meat following their swim with Lucien saying to Esther: “You won’t find anything fresher than this.

Quite.

Regarding the end of the film, it’s worth mentioning that Philipp returns to the villa following a previous outburst, which occurred when he was discovered peeking at Teodora through an open window.

Teodora thoughtfully prepared a meal for Philipp, so he picked a piece of meat from the counter and heated it in the microwave. As he soaked up the sauce with some bread, Philipp almost chipped a tooth on a ring resembling John’s wedding band while eating.

Subsequently, we find Teodora and her companions resuming their journey with Alba accompanying them. It isn’t Alba’s doing that she comes from a well-off family, and there remains a glimmer of hope for her yet.

They’re cannibals, not monsters…

Delicious is available to watch now on Netflix.
