In a surprising upset, Aurora Gaming PH decisively defeated Alter Ego, winning in a swift and commanding fashion. This victory marked a turning point for Aurora, who had previously struggled with consistency, and earned them the title of M7 World Champions – a result that many doubted they could achieve.
Let’s quickly review the match between Aurora Gaming PH and Alter Ego in the M7 World Championship Grand Finals.
Alter Ego vs Aurora PH: M7 Grand Finals Recap
Game 1
Okay, so Game 1 started and Alter Ego came out swinging! They were constantly in Aurora Gaming PH’s jungle, trying to mess up their early game. Honestly, I thought it might work, but Aurora stayed really calm and did a great job moving players around to keep their lanes solid. They didn’t panic at all!
Within the first ten minutes, Aurora took the lead with strong team fights and well-coordinated attacks that stunned their opponents. They then claimed the Lord, a powerful in-game objective, and used it to destroy Alter Ego’s mid-lane tower, significantly reducing Alter Ego’s ability to control the map. Just four minutes later, Aurora launched a perfectly executed attack, quickly defeating Alter Ego and winning the first game.
Game 2
The start of Game 2 saw both teams playing carefully, feeling each other out instead of rushing into big battles. This cautious play continued until about 4 minutes in, when Aurora took control and got several kills while also securing the second Turtle objective.
Aurora quickly gained a significant advantage, aggressively taking control of the map by attacking Alter Ego’s bases and constantly pushing their lanes. This limited Alter Ego’s ability to gain resources. Edward Dapadap, playing as Sora, was a key player, achieving a KDA of 6 kills, 2 deaths, and 6 assists within the first 11 minutes. Alter Ego couldn’t keep up, and Aurora ultimately won the second game, putting them one win away from victory.
Game 3
With their backs against the wall in Game 3, Alter Ego went back to the heroes they were most comfortable with, hoping to turn things around. However, that plan fell apart quickly when Aurora caught Muhammad “Yazukee” Wahyudi out of position before they could get the first Turtle, giving Aurora a significant early lead.
Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto quickly gained an advantage, getting three kills with Fredrinn within the first three minutes. From there, Aurora took control of the game, earning a 4,000 gold lead after just six minutes. Jan “Domeng” Delmundo then became a powerful force with Granger, increasing Aurora’s lead even more. With a significant advantage, Aurora pushed down the middle lane with the Lord and finished the game in less than 10 minutes.
Game 4
Both teams in Game 4 focused on gaining an advantage through map awareness and control. Alter Ego relied on Yazukee playing Yi Sun-Shin, but Aurora countered by having Yue play Zetian, aiming to neutralize that strategy.
Alter Ego grew increasingly desperate and started taking risky fights, even if it meant losing team members. Aurora capitalized on every mistake. By the 7-minute mark, the PH team had secured a Turtle and then wiped out four of Alter Ego’s players. After that, Aurora consistently gained an advantage, building a 5,000 gold lead and a nine-kill advantage, and winning every subsequent team fight.
Alter Ego struggled to compete for objectives and protect their base, ultimately leading to their defeat as Aurora Gaming PH won the series and became the M7 World Championship winners. Dylan “Light” Catipon was named the MVP of the Finals for his outstanding performance.
