Deigo Luna’s son did not like Star Wars at first
As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both gaming and cinema, I can’t help but relate to Diego Luna’s experience of introducing Star Wars to his young son. Much like my attempts to share the addictive allure of “Civilization VI” with my own offspring, the results were less than satisfying. My son, at the tender age of 5 or 6, found my passionate explanation of the intricate politics and resource management of the game as captivating as a Sunday sermon. He promptly lost interest, leaving me to ponder the fate of my digital empire alone.
As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the Star Wars universe, I’ve come to realize that not everyone may find it as captivating as I do. In fact, one of the characters from my favorite TV show, How I Met Your Mother, feigns interest in Star Wars just to please her partner, only for us to later learn that she was deceiving him.
In Diego Luna’s case, your child might just get bored and walk out.
As reported by Kimberlee Speakman, Jack Smart, and Georgia Slater in an exclusive for People magazine, Jerónimo initially found the distant galaxy less appealing when he first viewed it.
I remember the first time I put on Star Wars for my son and clearly it was too early because he left me by myself watching the film… I said, let’s start with ‘A New Hope.’ I think he was too young to watch it, but I really wanted to share the film with my son because it’s important… This is the moment every father is waiting for. And he lasted like 20 minutes.
It’s regrettable that a chance to positively impact a child’s life was overlooked back then, but it’s important to remember that the child wouldn’t have understood this at the time. Nowadays, he might have allowed Jerónimo to explore “Young Jedi Adventures” or “Zen – Grogu and the Dust Bunnies”, but given his future actions in 2016 (stealing the Death Star plans), it makes sense that the man would instead expose his son to the movie depicting the destruction of the Death Star.
Even when all seemed hopeless, Luna eased the authors’ worries by confirming a shift in things. As time went by, I found myself revisiting it and developing a new appreciation for it.
There’s a lot of anticipation building around Season 2 of Andor, as it was unveiled at the recent D23 Expo. Fans are eager to discover more about this final season, which is structured into four three-episode storylines that span the last four years leading up to the Rebel Alliance’s first significant victory.
