As a dedicated fan of Heroic and Degster, I must say this visa issue is as frustrating as a deagle bullet hitting a wall instead of an enemy. It seems like every time there’s a big event, our beloved Degster finds himself on the sidelines due to unforeseen circumstances.
Heroic face off against MIBR in their opening match
At IEM Cologne 2024, our latest addition to Team Heroic, Degster, may not be able to participate in the opening matches due to visa issues. The tournament begins soon, but unfortunately, the Russian player has encountered challenges obtaining his visa before the event’s start date.
Degster to miss out initial IEM Cologne matches
Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov won’t be able to play some initial games at IEM Cologne because of visa complications, according to HLTV. The exact number of matches he’ll miss isn’t clear yet as there’s no set timeline for obtaining the necessary visa at this point.
In May, Degster joined HEROIC, but has faced visa issues for tournaments, causing him to miss IEM Cologne, which is his third such event he can’t attend since the start. Previously this year, he also couldn’t participate in events like IEM Dallas and BLAST Premier Groups. At IEM Dallas, Nicodoz took his place, while sAw stood in for the team during BLAST.
The International eSports Event (IEM) in Cologne begins on August 7 and runs for approximately twelve days, concluding on the 18th. This tournament offers a prize pool of one million dollars, yet for many teams or competitors, the honor of winning IEM Cologne is more valuable. Over the years, IEM Cologne, much like Katowice, has become a significant event in the Counter-Strike community.
In their debut at IEM Cologne, Heroic will go head-to-head with MIBR in a Play-In round. If they manage to progress into the top eight, they’ll move forward to the Group Stage, where they’ll encounter more formidable competitors. You can watch all the exciting action unfold live on Twitch at this link.
Heroic’s Counter-Strike roster
A replacement player for IEM Cologne 2024 has been put forward by Heroic, but their name remains a secret for now. Keep an eye on this story as we’ll share further details once they become public.
Heroic’s roster is as follows:
- René “TeSeS” Madsen
- Rasmus “sjuush” Beck
- Guy “NertZ” Iluz
- Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski
- Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov
- Eetu “sAw” Saha (Coach)
