Defiant Wendy Williams Fights for Freedom: ‘I Deserve It, Darling!’

Wendy Williams was quite feisty when she addressed her highly contested guardianship on Friday.

60-year-old ex-talk show host was seen having a meal with companions in New York City, expressing optimism about being freed from the court-appointed guardianship shortly.

She informed Page Six that she’s extraordinary, surpassing the ordinary, yet has faced accusations suggesting otherwise.

‘I am very much alive. I deserve freedom, darling.’

When asked about her toned physique, Williams casually mentioned that she underwent liposuction and breast augmentation at age 31. Now, at the age of 60, she’s proud to say her body has aged gracefully.

Instead, she hesitated to divulge further details regarding her strategy for reclaiming control over her life, instead directing questions to her representative, Ginalisa Monterroso. Ginalisa advised the media outlet, “Be cautious about what you believe.

On Monday, the star of The Wendy Williams Show emerged victorious from a significant court case, persuading the judge managing her guardianship to grant permission for her to relocate from the memory-care wing of the New York City assisted living facility she currently resides in, to another part of the same facility.

According to the source, she is currently residing in a private condominium, which offers her greater liberty to move around freely. She can now welcome guests whenever she desires and depart whenever it suits her.

‘Her team will also begin settlement talks for the guardianship,’ the source alleged.

In essence, Wendy aims to fully disengage from this agreement. However, as she progresses, there are certain challenges she’ll encounter that will determine the extent of her liberty. If these tests indicate a complete release from guardianship, then she would be entirely free. Otherwise, future legal arrangements may offer her less supervision.

According to an inside source, the actress from Think Like a Man has been given a positive result following her recent cognitive assessment.

The judge stated that this doesn’t necessarily show she’s unable to function, but rather she appears clear-headed, intelligent, and attentive.

They disclosed that Wendy will undergo another comprehensive assessment to evaluate her cognitive skills and receive a neurological examination specifically for the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.

2023 saw the diagnosis of a form of progressive aphasia and dementia in the ex-host of the talk show, a condition attributed by doctors to excessive alcohol consumption over many years.

In 2022, Sabrina Morrissey, a 60-year-old elder law attorney, was designated as the guardian for Williams, following allegations from Williams’ former manager Bernie Young that she may not have been mentally sound. This situation also prompted Wells Fargo to restrict access to her bank accounts.

As a lifestyle advisor, I find myself identifying with a remarkable individual named Williams. She has chosen abstinence from alcohol, a decision that speaks volumes about her strength and commitment. However, she faces unique health challenges – Graves’ disease and lymphedema – which unfortunately limit her mobility. Yet, her spirit remains undeterred, inspiring us all with her resilience.

She often uses a mobility scooter to get around.

Following the court hearing, it has been reported that Judge Lisa Sokoloff appears receptive to considering Wendy’s request for release from court supervision. Now, her legal team is focusing on negotiating a settlement.
