Defamatory slur Abbie Chatfield is getting sued over: How reality TV star posted false message to her hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers about her male ‘best mate’ Heath Kelley

I’m absolutely shocked to hear that Abbie Chatfield is being sued for defamation. Apparently, a former friend – who she used to call her ‘male best friend’ – is taking legal action because she made a really damaging claim to her followers on Instagram. She falsely suggested he supported genocide and the slaughter of children, and now he’s understandably seeking justice. It’s a terrible situation all around.

The Daily Mail has the exclusive story about the legal case Heath Kelley has filed against the former Bachelor star and well-known activist, who is 30 years old, in the Australian Federal Court.

Kelley, who is currently studying law and previously worked in guest services at Virgin Australia, reportedly sent a private message to Chatfield in May. In the message, he stated he was ‘pro-Israel’ due to the country’s support of LGBTQ+ rights and women’s rights.

It was claimed that this statement led her to publicly shame Kelley – who isn’t a famous person – in a very noticeable manner.

On Thursday, The Daily Mail reported that Kelley initiated a defamation lawsuit against Chatfield back in September.

Ever since the lawsuit was announced, Chatfield has only reacted by criticizing the Mail for referring to her past issues as ‘woes’.

Chatfield and Kelley were once so close their relationship sparked romance rumours.

The couple became front-page news in 2019 after appearing in a provocative video online. The video showed Chatfield dancing intimately with Kelly, and she reportedly said, ‘I love this song and I love this man.’

Chatfield, who had recently gained fame as a contestant on Channel Ten’s The Bachelor, immediately refuted rumors of a romantic relationship, referring to Kelley as ‘my best friend of ten years.’

However, that relationship has now clearly soured.

Okay, so I’m a huge fan of Chatfield, but even *I* have to admit things have gotten a little… intense lately. People are really coming after her because she’s not afraid to share her very strong political opinions – she’s definitely on the left, and she *says* what she thinks. It’s gotten to the point where even her social media posts are causing a stir! Specifically, she’s been talking about really sensitive topics like abortion, and even commented on the death of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, which has *really* upset some people. Honestly, I get why people are talking, but I still support her right to speak her mind!

Last weekend, Chatfield shared a video of her outfit with a soundtrack stating: ‘I love abortions, and trans people, and migrants, and birth control, and immigrants, and gay people, and having fun, and just being a nice and overall good person’.

Chatfield faced significant backlash online for her statement about abortion, but she defended her position, stating she ‘loves abortion‘ because ‘it literally saves the lives of pregnant people‘.

She explained that if a pregnancy cannot continue and threatens a woman’s life, an abortion in that situation is life-saving. However, this detailed explanation didn’t stop the criticism from continuing.

As a lifestyle expert, I was shocked to learn of the tragic death of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist, on September 10th in Utah. What truly disturbed me, though, was the immediate reaction from Chatfield, who publicly stated that she hated him right after the news broke. It’s never okay to celebrate someone’s passing, regardless of your personal feelings.

Chatfield posted, ‘Even though I dislike Charlie Kirk, this situation is harmful to everyone.’ They continued, ‘Both the right (and potentially the left) may resort to increased violence instead of participating in genuine democracy, and he risks being seen as a martyr…’

Since appearing on The Bachelor, Chatfield has been featured in several other shows, including Bachelor in Paradise Australia and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!. She has also hosted Love Island Afterparty Australia and served as a panellist on The Masked Singer.

A court date for the defamation case brought by Mr Kelley against Chatfield has not yet been set.
