Declan Donnelly says Ant McPartlin is now a ‘much better person than he was before’ – after his drink-driving ordeal in 2018

Oh my gosh, I just read that Declan said Ant is doing so well! Apparently, he thinks Ant’s become a genuinely better person since everything that happened back in 2018 with the drink-driving incident. It just makes me so happy to hear that he’s turned things around and is doing okay. They’re the best duo ever, and I’m thrilled Ant’s in a good place!

Ant’s career seemed ruined after he was arrested for driving under the influence near his home in London.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen my share of headlines, and this one is pretty shocking! The presenter, who’s 50 years old, recently received a massive fine – a record-breaking £86,000, in fact. It’s believed to be the largest penalty ever issued by a British court for this particular offense.

In a recent interview with The Times, Dec shared how Ant dealt with a difficult time in his life. He praised Ant for taking ownership of the issues he faced, particularly in recent years, and actively working to address them.

He dedicated himself to personal growth, striving not only to regain his former self but to become an even better version of who he once was.

Ant explained that his fifties have been a welcome change after a difficult period in his forties. He said turning fifty felt good because the years leading up to it were really challenging, and he’s now happier than he’s been in a long time.

Ant appeared upset and messy after his car hit a BMW while he was walking his dogs in Richmond Park.

The driver, Dr. Audrey Ng, had twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system when he crashed his BMW into another car. He also collided with a Mini, and a four-year-old child in that vehicle was injured and required hospital care.

Her son – who was in the back seat – later told her the Mini came ’round the corner like a rocket.’

Another witness told the Daily Mail that two cars were driving on Lower Richmond Road: a green Mini Cooper and an X5 that was quite a distance behind.

A black Mini Cooper sped around the corner and, instead of turning, crossed the street, colliding with a green Mini.

The Mini Cooper was involved in a collision, but continued moving and hit the BMW in front of it, which had braked suddenly. A woman and her young son were in the BMW.

The airbags went off in the dark-colored Mini Cooper, and a woman exited from the front passenger side. At first, no one emerged from the driver’s seat.

A woman driving a BMW got out of her car, but her son remained inside. The family in a Mini Cooper also exited their vehicle. An Asian woman then ran up and began yelling at the driver of the black Mini, who hadn’t gotten out. Someone walking by tried to calm her down and made sure everyone involved was alright.

People were making sure everyone was okay. The car horn kept blaring for a long time, which caused a lot of confusion and left everyone feeling stunned.

The driver briefly yelled at his mother when he exited the vehicle, but didn’t talk to anyone else until the police showed up. There were two dogs inside the car.

The celebrity had a difficult year, including seeking help for painkiller addiction and announcing his split from his wife, Lisa Armstrong.

ITV then cancelled Saturday Night Takeaway to allow him to return to rehab for a second time.

Ant and Dec took down a social media post promoting their new podcast after facing criticism that it was insensitive to those affected by suicide. The post featured a visual of feet suspended in the air, which some viewers found upsetting.

Oh my gosh, you guys, they did it! Ant and Dec just posted the most amazing video! It started with this shot of just shoes and legs hanging in the air – seriously, it was so dramatic! – and then they revealed their new project: ‘Hanging Out With Ant and Dec’! I’m SO excited, I’ve been following them for years and this looks incredible. They shared it with all 5.9 million of us, can you believe it?! I’m already obsessed!

Ant and Dec announced the launch of their new podcast, “Hanging Out With Ant and Dec,” which will be available starting Thursday, January 22nd. They shared the news with a post featuring a vintage microphone and starry-eyed emojis.

Honestly, I was shocked when I saw the clip, and so were a ton of other fans! Everyone immediately said it was just…wrong. Like, seriously in poor taste and it brought up a lot of really difficult feelings for people. It was genuinely upsetting, and we all let them know!

The video was posted on Friday evening but by 11am on Saturday morning had been removed.

Ant and Dec, both aged 50, have apologized after some people were upset by a promotional video they released. Their representatives said they didn’t intend to cause any offense and have removed the video following the feedback.

Before the video was removed, the pair – known for speaking openly about mental health through ITV’s 2021 ‘Britain Get Talking’ campaign – faced strong criticism on social media.

One person commented that, having lost a friend to suicide, they understood why the content could be upsetting and thoughtless.

Someone else questioned the advertisement’s opening scene, asking, ‘Seriously, who thought starting with a shot of dangling legs was a good idea? It’s really upsetting for some people.’

As someone who focuses on well-being, I was really disturbed by a recent video circulating online. I, along with many others – including Katie Waissel, who’s been open about her own mental health journey and you might remember from The X Factor – felt the imagery was incredibly damaging and, sadly, completely predictable in terms of the harm it could cause.

She stated plainly that she found the proposed creative direction deeply upsetting and a significant letdown.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always believed in the power of visual storytelling, but this opening shot really struck me. It’s not just a clever visual pun; the image of feet dangling instantly evokes a much darker interpretation – someone being hanged. Honestly, it’s hard to shake the feeling of suicide imagery that it brings up, and it’s something viewers will likely notice right away.

The person who approved this marketing idea clearly didn’t consider how it would affect people, or they didn’t care about the consequences.

Waissel, 39, also stated that because the show has such a large audience, the hosts had a clear responsibility to be careful with what they said and did.

She stated that presenting this as entertainment is upsetting, thoughtless, and irresponsible, especially considering the pain many families have experienced due to suicide and self-harm. She believes the show can be promoted without featuring images that could genuinely upset or disturb viewers.

Others echoed her concern.

One user commented, ‘I had the same thought – the way it was filmed suggests someone has been hanged, even though the actual hanging isn’t shown.’

I’m not suggesting it was intentional, but this was a remarkably insensitive decision from people who really should have understood better.

After receiving negative reactions, the video was taken down from all official social media accounts. Ant and Dec haven’t spoken publicly about it yet.

Recently, the duo signed a deal worth around £30 million with ITV, guaranteeing their continued success and position as key personalities for the network.

Oh my gosh, Ant and Dec! Seriously, those two are everywhere! I mean, they’re basically British TV royalty, aren’t they? I’ve watched them host everything – from seeing celebrities suffer in ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ to discovering amazing talent on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, and even their own brilliant show, ‘Limitless Win’! I just can’t get enough of them!

The pair first became well-known as teens on the TV show Byker Grove, and they’re now set to continue leading ITV’s on-screen presentations for at least another few years, until 2028.
