December is shaping up to be a great month for Godzilla fans! The popular Monsterverse franchise has been expanding, and now Apple TV+’s series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, will be back for a second season on February 27, 2026.
The Monsterverse is expanding on both TV and in theaters! With a trailer for season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters now available, fans can also look forward to the next big-screen adventure, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, arriving in theaters on March 26, 2027. And for those eager to revisit the world of giant monsters, there’s some good news coming soon.
Netflix announced that both Godzilla (2014) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) will be available to stream starting December 1st. This means fans can watch these two Monsterverse films on Netflix before the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters arrives on Apple TV+ next year.

The 2014 film Godzilla starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as a couple, just before they became known as the Marvel characters Wanda and Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Godzilla has received positive reviews, earning a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating with a 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Viewers generally enjoyed Godzilla: King of the Monsters, giving it an 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its recent addition to Netflix is well-timed, as many subscribers will recognize Millie Bobby Brown, who plays a key character named Madison Russell. She’s best known for starring in one of Netflix’s biggest hits.
As a huge fan of Millie Bobby Brown, I was thrilled to hear Stranger Things season 5 is dropping around late November and December. It got me thinking – if you’re already hooked on her, you absolutely need to check out the Monsterverse! Her character, Madison Russell, plays a really important role in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and she’s fantastic in it.
Even though it’s separate from the new Godzilla films coming to Netflix on December 1st, subscribers can also watch Godzilla Minus One, which won an Oscar. This 2023 Japanese film has been praised for its impressive action sequences, realistic special effects, and strong acting. Overall, Netflix is a great place for Godzilla fans to find something to enjoy.
