Fans of the show Arrow are in for some disappointing news this December regarding where they’ll be able to watch it. Arrow, starring Stephen Amell, has become a hugely popular DC TV series, and rightfully so. It launched the Arrowverse, a shared universe that thrived on television for over ten years.
After eight seasons, Arrow finished its run on January 28, 2020. Then, The Flash, starring Grant Gustin, concluded its ninth season, effectively ending the shared universe known as the Arrowverse. Although the Arrowverse is now over, the shows continue to be popular on streaming platforms, attracting both new viewers and those revisiting old favorites. However, fans will soon need to find a different way to watch these shows.
Stephen Amell’s Arrow Is Leaving Netflix Next Month

The popular DC series Arrow will no longer be available on Netflix after December 18th. It first arrived on the streaming platform in October 2014, and was joined by other shows from the Arrowverse, which collectively attracted a large audience. In fact, a recent report from 2023 showed that viewers watched Arrow for a total of 159.7 million hours on Netflix in the latter half of the year.
Although Arrow performed well, The Flash proved to be even more popular on Netflix, becoming the most-watched show in the Arrowverse. The Flash racked up 311 million viewing hours, while Arrow came in second. Despite this, Arrow‘s success still boosted Netflix, and its removal left fans upset.
Why You Should Watch Arrow Before It Leaves Netflix
Since Arrow is leaving Netflix next month, now’s the time to start watching if you haven’t already. The show is considered a major milestone for superhero series, largely because it laid the groundwork for a more successful DC shared universe on television than the one attempted in theaters with the DCEU.
The first two seasons of Arrow are fantastic. The villain, Deathstroke, feels both personally connected to Oliver and genuinely frightening, and the Queen family is full of hidden secrets. The show cleverly reveals Oliver’s past as he pursues a mission in the present. Arrow stands out as a grittier DC superhero show, featuring a hero who isn’t afraid to kill.
Throughout its run, Arrow had its ups and downs, particularly when it introduced a lot more characters. However, the show’s main characters were consistently engaging, with exciting action sequences and heartfelt scenes. Arrow proved that superhero stories didn’t need to be fantastical to be successful, and it stands out as a truly compelling series.
