Death Stranding anime adaptation announced for 2027 release

Hideo Kojima, the creator of Death Stranding, is producing a new anime series based on the game. It’s scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2027.

The popular game series Death Stranding is expanding with a new anime series. This announcement comes after the strong launch of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which sold around 1.4 million copies in its first month.

Death Stranding Isolations

The anime adaptation of the popular video game Death Stranding is currently titled ‘Death Stranding: Isolations’. Hideo Kojima, the renowned creator of the game and its producer, will oversee the anime as its executive producer, alongside other leading professionals in the animation industry.

Takayuki Sano will direct the series. He’s a highly skilled animator known for his work on popular titles like Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Kakegurui, Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Ilya Kuvshinov, who previously designed characters for Psycho-Pass 3 and a special One Piece episode (1089), will be responsible for the original character designs.

So, there’s a new Death Stranding anime coming out, and it’s not going to retell the game’s story – it’s completely fresh! It follows a new duo, a young guy and girl, who get thrown into a crazy adventure. What’s really cool is it’s all being done with classic, hand-drawn 2D animation by a really talented team at E&H Production. I’m super excited to see how this looks!

Synopsis

One elderly man searches for redemption in ways that contrast sharply with the connections Bridges is trying to rebuild. A seasoned warrior strives to end a seemingly endless cycle of war, while a young boy harbors resentment towards Bridges himself. And then there’s a girl who finds peace only in being completely alone.

As the world faces its final moments, the lives and dreams of those who remain are becoming connected. A new chapter in the Death Stranding saga is about to unfold.
