Death row inmate received emails from Rob and Michele Reiner days after their deaths

As a lifestyle expert, I’m following a truly heartbreaking story. A man on death row in Texas says he received three emails after Rob and Michele Reiner were tragically killed on December 14th. He claims he’d been friends with the couple for years, and these emails came following their deaths – a very strange and unsettling detail in an already devastating case.

Nanon Williams told NBC News that he first met the parents of Nick, who is now facing charges in their deaths, back in 2016.

Fifty-one-year-old Williams says he bonded with the Reiners after they watched his one-man show, ‘Lyrics From Lockdown.’ The show explores themes of race, the criminal justice system, and imprisonment.

Williams is currently incarcerated at the W.F. Ramsey Unit, a prison located in Brazoria County, Texas, approximately 40 miles south of Houston.

He’s been held in custody for over 34 years, since he was 17, following a murder conviction that he maintains he didn’t commit.

Williams stated he’d been regularly communicating with the Reiners for over nine years, ever since they first met. NBC News reported that the couple emailed him ‘almost daily’ and even offered him a place to live if he were ever released from prison.

Romy, the daughter of the couple who recently passed away, shared with NBC News that Williams became a close, family-like figure after getting to know her parents.

Okay, so get this – apparently, poor Michele actually tried to reach out to Williams right before… well, before everything happened. She sent him an email! But it’s just… devastating. He didn’t get it until days later, after she was gone. Days! Can you imagine? It’s like she was reaching out from beyond, and he didn’t even know it at the time. It just breaks my heart thinking about it.

Emails sometimes take a while to arrive because of security checks, and these checks can occasionally last for several hours or even days.

Williams said he was using the prison’s tablet when he learned about the murders and immediately emailed Michelle.

It read, ‘Please, this can’t be true. Please tell me the news is lying.’

William stated that he received three emails from the couple on his tablet, with the last one arriving the night before they died at 5:26 p.m. Pacific Time.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s heartbreaking. Apparently, the last email I received from Michele came just two days after a lovely evening out. We – my daughter Romy, my family friends Billy and Janice Crystal, and I – had all gone to see ‘Lyrics From Lockdown’ in Los Angeles. It was a sweet night, and tragically, it was followed by the events that led to our deaths.

Michele shared that she and Billy Crystal, both frequent collaborators with Rob Reiner on beloved films like When Harry Met Sally… and The Princess Bride, were deeply touched by Williams’ work, describing it as ‘amazing’.

Williams said Michele told him, ‘We all said that we can’t wait to watch it with you.’

Williams explained that the Reiners’ attempt to challenge his controversial conviction wasn’t about seeking public recognition or status.

‘Rob and Michele didn’t want credit for trying to help me,’ said Williams. ‘It was just because they loved me.’

Williams explained that after spending over 30 years in prison, he hadn’t had much contact with the media and wasn’t familiar with the person named Rob.

Williams explained that when he shared his experiences with the couple over the phone, they each reacted emotionally, but in distinct ways.

According to Williams, as they continued to learn, Rob grew increasingly angry, while Michele became more and more caring. He described Michele as the most important person in his life.

Robin Williams told NBC News that Rob and Michele Reiner were ‘a huge part of my life,’ explaining that ‘they became like family to me.’
