Death in Paradise’s Kris Marshall wants all 5 lead detectives to meet in special crossover

Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall has said he wants all five of the show’s lead detectives to “meet up on screen”.

The actor played DI Humphrey Goodman on the hit BBC drama from 2014 to 2017, and has reprised the role in spin-off Beyond Paradise since 2023.

Throughout its 14-year span, Death in Paradise has showcased various lead detectives such as Ben Miller’s character, DI Richard Poole, Ardal O’Hanlon playing DI Jack Mooney, and Ralf Little as DI Neville Parker.

Meanwhile, Don Gilet made his debut as DI Mervin Wilson in December 2024, and his first full series leading the show is due to conclude soon.

Speaking to Radio Times ahead of the release of Beyond Paradise‘s third season later this month, Marshall shared his hopes for all five of the detectives to “meet up on screen” in a special crossover.

“There’s no WhatsApp group,” he said. “But I would love some kind of reunion where all five of us meet up on screen.”

This might be a tough feat given the death of Miller’s Richard Poole in season three.

It has been mentioned that the character appeared as a vision in Camille’s mind during the 10th season of “Death in Paradise”, which suggests there is a possibility to reintroduce the character in future episodes.

In the third season of “Beyond Paradise,” set to air on March 28, we can expect an exhilarating comeback filled with intrigue, laughter, and emotional depth.

“We follow DI Humphrey Goodman and the team as they tackle more mind-boggling puzzles, all set against the breathtaking landscapes of Devon and Cornwall,” reads the synopsis.

The narrative further delves into the parenthood adventure of Humphrey and Martha, as they embrace a fresh foster child named Rosie, a spirited 9-year-old who presents them with difficulties beyond their initial expectations.

Concurrently, “Death in Paradise” will air its season 14 finale and “Beyond Paradise” is set to come back on the same day due to a scheduling adjustment to accommodate Comic Relief on BBC One.

Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
