Death in Paradise star teases “intense scenes” after overwhelming experience on set

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share some exciting tidbits about the upcoming season of “Death in Paradise.” Actor Shaquille Ali-Yebuah has hinted at what lies ahead for the show’s latest team member, Trainee Officer Sebastian ‘Seb’ Rose. Stay tuned to see how this fresh face fits into the island’s mysteries!

I’ve hopped on board with the crime drama in its 14th season, and it’s been a bumpy ride so far. With Seb stepping into the shoes left by the late TO Benjamin Brice (Anthony J Abraham), I’ve had my work cut out for me. Treading carefully, I’ve managed to make DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) more than a little irritated along the way.

Ali-Yebuah hinted that an animated Seb is likely to feature in some particularly dramatic moments for the remainder of the season.

As a tease, I can’t reveal too much, but my on-screen persona finds themselves in some exciting predicaments! There’s a scene where I encounter snakes, take a plunge into the vast ocean, and navigate through the dense jungle. Trust me, it’s going to be thrilling!

He went on to say, “A lot has been quite extraordinary, and to be honest, it’s all been rather mind-blowing!” or simply, “It’s been one wild ride, truly astonishing, even if it’s left me feeling a bit overpowered!

At first, Ali-Yebuah found himself at odds with DI Wilson. However, he recognizes that Seb is a contender who has much to demonstrate or prove.

As a fellow gaming enthusiast, if you have a soft spot for the underrated characters, I wholeheartedly recommend this one! This character offers an exciting blend of action and humor that will keep you entertained. Warm-hearted, fearless, and ever ready to lend a hand, he’s definitely someone worth rooting for.

He went on to say: “He’s nimble-footed and keen to demonstrate his abilities to Inspector Mervin Wilson and the crew. However, his enthusiasm can occasionally lead to mishaps. Yet, with a touch of good fortune, he could potentially excel…

Born in Jamaica, Ali-Yebuah portrays a native of the imaginary island of Saint Marie – the idyllic location featured in the TV series Death in Paradise (although it’s filmed on Guadeloupe).

In his own words, he shared that as a Caribbean actor portraying a character from Saint Marie, he felt a strong sense of duty to make his performance genuine. To achieve this, he was determined to learn more about the culture and even picked up some French and Guadeloupean Creole.

It mattered significantly to immerse myself in the culture, not only for my personal growth, but also for enriching the character and the production as a whole.

Both “Death in Paradise” and its sequel series titled “Beyond Paradise” can be found airing on BBC One, as well as being available for streaming on BBC iPlayer. Similarly, “The One Show” is broadcasted on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
