Death in Paradise star Don Gilet has shared a filming update on season 15.
In a new chapter, the latest season of the BBC crime drama has been aired, representing the first full season with DI Mervin Wilson as the main detective, following his introduction during the Christmas special.
Despite the ongoing airing of season 14, Gilet has already announced the date for the cast’s return to Guadeloupe to initiate filming for season 15.
In a recent interview with Shantol Jackson on ITV’s show “Lorraine”, Gilet was inquired about his return date, as follows: “When can we expect your return to the sunshine again?
“Unfortunately, it is about April time, end of April,” he confirmed.
When Shantol pondered over why coming back to sunlight seemed unfortunate, I chuckled, explaining, “Simply put, it’s the folks I’ll be parting ways with.
The performer likewise shared insights about stepping into the shoes of Ralf Little, who concluded his role as Detective Inspector Neville Parker in the last season, and explained the differences between this season and its predecessors.
He clarified, “What sets this one apart is the presence of an overarching storyline.” In essence, the detective’s character undergoes a significant transformation as he initially seeks his mother during the investigation.
Since he is currently residing on the island, both prior to his departure and at the time of the most recent crime, it would be beneficial to utilize his presence.
When Lorraine observed that DI Mervin seems hesitant about being in Saint Marie, the actor commented: “He’s caught between two worlds. He’s gone to search for his mother, but he’s unsure of what awaits him when they meet.
After learning of her passing, he was obligated to remain in that location, yet he yearned to depart. Amidst the inner turmoil, he disliked the people there since he didn’t wish to stay among them.
