Death in Paradise star is “committed” to the BBC show after exit
As a hardcore fan of Death in Paradise, I can’t help but feel a deep connection to this beloved BBC series. Former star Sara Martins’ recent interview with the Radio Times has left me both excited and hopeful for the future of the show. Martins, who played the much-loved character Camille Bordey from seasons 1-4 and made two subsequent appearances, has revealed that despite her initial intentions to say no to returning, she always ends up coming back due to the producers’ enticing ideas.
Former Death in Paradise star Sara Martins has said she “will be committed forever” to the series.
The actor gained recognition for portraying Camille Bordey in the initial four seasons of the BBC series, and has made two subsequent appearances – the latest being in the thirteenth season.
Martin continues to express her desire to step away from the production, but enticing concepts proposed by the creators keep drawing her back in, indicating a lasting bond between her and the program.
The actor shared with the Radio Times that they often decline invitations but eventually return, even for just an episode or a scene. Producers consistently pitch intriguing ideas that put a smile on their face.
I’ve been a dedicated fan of this show for years now. It’s become more than just entertainment for me; it’s a part of my life. I can’t imagine ever losing my connection to it. However, I must admit that my commitment is not tied to any specific schedule. The unpredictability adds to the excitement, and who knows, maybe new episodes will keep coming our way. But if they don’t, I’ll still cherish the memories and the experiences this show has given me.
After formers star Joséphine Jobert announced her decision not to reprise her role as DS Florence Cassell, she expressed that she feels she has already put in sufficient time on the program.
The British police procedural “Death in Paradise” is preparing for its fourteenth season with a new lead character, played by Don Gilet, who will replace Ralf Little as Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson.
More recently, Robert Thorogood, the mastermind behind the show, disclosed that initially, comedian David Mitchell was considered for the primary role of Richard Poole, which eventually went to Ben Miller.
David was initially planned to star in “Death in Paradise,” as mentioned to OK!. However, when the production received the go-ahead, he was already smitten with Victoria [Coren Mitchell].
“Apologetically, he had to decline your invitation to the Caribbean for the next half year. He’s recently begun a new relationship with Vicky Coren.”
Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
