Ardal O’Hanlon, known for his role in Death in Paradise, will star in what’s being described as Ireland’s first darkly funny Christmas comedy. He’ll be joined by Michelle Fairley and Peter Claffey, both of whom appeared in Game of Thrones.
Dallan Shovlin, previously a second assistant director on the film Kneecap, directs the new movie You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead. The story follows an Irish family getting together for Christmas. After talking about a recent local robbery, they jokingly suggest they could pull it off better themselves – and decide to try!
The film’s cast also includes Ruth Codd, known for her role in The Celebrity Traitors, along with Jacob McCarthy, Simone Kirby, and Stephen Rea.

I just read that You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead is being called Ireland’s first really dark and funny Christmas movie! That’s according to Shovlin, who told Screen International about it.
I’ve been thinking about Christmas, and what really gets me is how families interact. It’s fascinating to see how people express what they need – or don’t express – especially when everyone’s feeling a little raw and open around the holidays.

For a comedy to really work, the characters shouldn’t be aware they’re in a funny situation, and that was our guiding principle throughout the project. I’m so proud of the talented cast and crew who believed in this story and put in tremendous effort to make it a reality.
Filming for You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead is finished in Ireland, and the movie is now being edited and prepared for release. It’s expected to be in theaters around the holidays.
I just saw Kneecap, and it’s amazing! It came out in 2024 and tells the true story of this incredible rap group from Belfast – Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, and JJ Ó Dochartaigh. It’s so cool to see how they became really important in the fight to protect the Irish language, basically becoming leaders in a modern civil rights movement.
The dramedy debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and stars Michael Fassbender, Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty, Jessica Reynolds, Adam Best, and Simone Kirby, who you may also recognize from You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead.
You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead is yet to receive a release date.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour magazine dedicated to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or order it online for only £8.99. This special edition has 100 pages!
