Death in Paradise reveals first look at new detective
As a gamer who has binge-watched countless detective shows and mysteries, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement as Death in Paradise welcomes Don Gilet into the fold. Having grown up on EastEnders, it’s fascinating to see him step into a new role, especially as the lead detective on an iconic series like this one.
Death in Paradise recently revealed a sneak peek of Don Gilet portraying Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in action.
Earlier this year, it was made known that the previous EastEnders actor is set to assume the role of the main detective in the upcoming season 14. This change comes after Ralf Little’s character, DI Neville Parker, departed from the show at the end of season 13.
Actor Gilet is set to first appear as Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in an upcoming holiday special, followed by a fresh series in 2025, the filming of which has been completed.
Confirmed: Mervin travels to the picturesque island of Saint Marie, departing from his home in London, to help solve a case.
However, the team soon discover that Mervin may have an ulterior motive for being on the island.
In the upcoming season of “Death in Paradise,” Gilet will be joining the series regulars, including Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, Élizabeth Bourgine, and Danny John-Jules.
Gilet expressed his joy at being back on the beautiful island of Guadeloupe, and this visit finds him taking up the familiar role of Detective Inspector.
I’ve truly enjoyed being part of this cherished production, working alongside a dedicated group of actors and technicians. I’m eager for the audience to witness the adventures of DI Mervin Wilson on the island, understand his role within the Saint Marie police force, and maybe uncover some mysteries along the way.
After Don was announced as Gilet’s replacement in May, Ralf Little expressed his well-wishes on social media, saying: “From me to you, Don, I wish you an absolutely fantastic journey.
Here’s a suggestion for paraphrasing: “I truly believe this will be an enchanting encounter for you. I genuinely hope that you reap all its benefits, and may your fortune shine brightly. I am confident that you will excel beyond measure.
Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
