I’m a huge Death in Paradise fan, and Don Warrington, who plays Commissioner Patterson, just dropped a little hint that things might not be so great for his character after what happened in season 14! He basically said we fans should be worried, which definitely has me on edge! I’m really hoping he’s okay, but it sounds like there could be some big changes coming in the Christmas special.
Just to recap, Selwyn was initially let go and replaced with a younger employee, but his managers quickly realized he was the most qualified person for the position and offered him the job back.
However, he didn’t accept, and retired from a life of police work.

But is he really done, or will he find himself unable to resist the call?
Speaking to Radio Times, Warrington really leant into the ambiguity.

The actor said Selwyn has made a choice, but it’s unclear if he’ll stick with it. He doesn’t know if anything will happen to influence Selwyn’s decision or help him in any way.
Warrington addressed comments made by his co-star Tobi Bakare, who suggested the show could continue successfully without Warrington’s character. Warrington playfully disagreed, saying he didn’t believe that to be true.
Regardless of what becomes of Selwyn, the 2025 Christmas special will center around four colleagues who find a body in the swimming pool after their Christmas party.

The show will feature actors Pearl Mackie (known for Doctor Who), Billy Harris (Ted Lasso), Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead), and James Baxter (Waterloo Road), along with Josie Lawrence, Oriana Charles, and Alix Serman.
This year, Beyond Paradise will have a Christmas special. And good news for fans of Death in Paradise: a fifteenth season has already been filmed and will air soon.
We don’t have a confirmed premiere date for the new season yet, and it likely won’t be announced until after the Christmas special. However, the show usually returns in January or early February.
The Paradise franchise airs on BBC One and streams on iPlayer.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find “Dolly at 80” at newsagents and online for only £8.99.
