Death in Paradise confirms Doctor Who star for Christmas special with a “dark turn” in first look

The popular show Death in Paradise has revealed the actors who will appear in its upcoming Christmas murder mystery, featuring stars from Doctor Who and Ted Lasso.

The latest installment of the beloved detective series features the Saint Marie team investigating a mysterious death that occurs during what was supposed to be an unforgettable office Christmas party.

I’m so excited that Pearl Mackie is going to be in this! As a huge Doctor Who fan, I absolutely loved her as Bill Potts – she was fantastic alongside Peter Capaldi’s Doctor in series 10. It’s great to see her involved in this special!

Mackie will be joined by Billy Harris, known for his role in Ted Lasso, and Kate Ashfield from Shaun of the Dead. Completing the cast are James Baxter, Josie Lawrence, Oriana Charles, and Alix Serman, all previously seen on Waterloo Road.

Joining the cast are Don Gilet as DI Mervin Wilson, Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Officer Sebastian Rose, and Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey. They will appear alongside the existing cast members.

The team finds themselves involved in a surprising murder investigation after a body is found the morning after the company’s Christmas party.

Four colleagues got a shocking surprise when they found a dead body in their company swimming pool. They immediately called Detective Inspector Wilson and his team, who were baffled to learn the murder weapon was found miles away in Swindon.

With the team stranded on Saint Marie, they’ll need help from someone they know to solve the mystery, according to a preview of the episode.

Mervin is finding it difficult to get into the Christmas spirit because he’s anxiously awaiting news from the brother he recently found out about.

Okay, so my character’s got some serious family drama going on, and honestly, I need to sort that out before I can really focus on this case. It’s a tough one, maybe the trickiest we’ve seen yet, and I’m hoping getting my personal life in order will help me crack it!

The world of Death in Paradise is expanding the holiday cheer with a Christmas special for its spin-off, Beyond Paradise. The episode promises a major, life-altering discovery.

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
