Death in Paradise actor joins another popular BBC show in exciting series 2 update

Actress Cathy Tyson, best known for her role in “Death in Paradise,” will be part of the cast for season 2 of BBC’s comedic series “Black Ops,” due out later this year.

The story revolves around characters Dom and Kay, portrayed by Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun, who unwittingly become undercover agents for the Greater London Police. In the second chapter, they will team up with MI5 only to discover that life within an intelligence agency is not as glamorous as it seems.

The monotonous nature of their work life undergoes a significant shift as they encounter the charming and enigmatic figure, Steve – a spy, who lures them with tantalizing prospects of secretive, high-stakes assignments.

In addition to the newcomer Tyson, season 2 of “Black Ops” features Ed Speelers from “You”, Tom Stourton from “Poor Things”, Nigel Havers known for his work in “Coronation Street”, and Annette Badland, famously seen in “Ted Lasso”. Meanwhile, Akemnji Ndifornyen reappears from the last season, playing the role of gang boss Tevin.

Filming for the upcoming episodes has begun, with plans for them to be broadcast on BBC One and available for streaming on iPlayer towards the end of the year.

As I step back onto the set for season two, it’s like slipping into my most cherished gaming gear once again. Sure, there might be a slight creak here and there, a reminder of the time that’s passed, but it only makes the experience all the more exhilarating! – Ikumelo

It’s hard to fathom the incredible feats we’ve managed with this series during its second run.

Viewers who enjoyed the first season will feel immediately comfortable as they rejoin the zany, humorous antics of Dom and Kay. Both returning fans and newcomers are sure to become fully engaged with the high-stakes situations and genuine perils these characters face.

Akemnji Ndifornyen, a co-creator, remarked: “Since the first series was such a delight, it was only natural for us to create another one!

Thrilled beyond measure for the upcoming expansion in season two. Whatever lies ahead for Dominic, Katherine, and Tevin, there’s no doubt – this journey will be an unforgettable rollercoaster of laughter! Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild and exhilarating comedy adventure!

Black Ops season 2 will air on BBC One and stream on iPlayer later this year.
