Deadpool & Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds is praised by Channing Tatum for supporting him more than almost anyone in Hollywood: 'I will owe him probably forever'

As a long-time fan of both Channing Tatum and the X-Men universe, I must say I was thoroughly amused by the actor’s heartfelt tribute to Gambit at this year’s Comic-Con. The black T-shirt adorned with a stylized image of the comic book character, complete with his signature headgear and flaming card, was an homage to a dream come true for Channing – finally playing the role he had longed for.

On a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Monday, Channing Tatum showered his friend Ryan Reynolds with nothing but warm and affectionate compliments.

Channing Tatum, who is 44 years old and famously known for his role in Magic Mike, posted pictures showing him alongside Ryan Reynolds, aged 47, at different Comic-Con events over the years. In these images, Tatum expresses admiration for Reynolds, praising him for standing by him when others didn’t during the successful launch of Reynolds’ latest R-rated film, Deadpool, which broke records as the highest-grossing opening for an R-rated movie.

He observed that the pictures showing him alongside the Marvel actor were taken approximately a decade apart, with the earlier one being captured during the same Comic-Con event where Ryan showcased a preview of the initial Deadpool movie, an event that Channing attended.

After quickly rushing backstage, he reminisced that he later encountered the person and gave him a heartfelt embrace, exclaiming something along the lines of “Wow, you actually did it!” He now recalls his reaction as “It’s amazing.”

Despite not being particularly acquainted with Ryan initially, it can now be asserted with certainty that there are few individuals who have been as supportive to me in this field as Ryan has.

In a thankful gesture, he disclosed subtle hints about upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine plot twists, as he was grateful to Ryan for bringing back to life a cherished character.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, let me share a heartfelt moment: I genuinely believed that Gambit, the X-Men character I was set to portray, had slipped away from me for good. Yet, against all odds, he stood his ground, not just for himself but for our shared vision. A debt of gratitude I may never be able to repay is what I owe him now.

Despite Disney’s acquisition of the rights to the X-Men characters from 20th Century Fox, the project unfortunately did not proceed.

Following the merger, Disney, having previously owned Marvel Studios (the base for the Avengers), was now in a position to bring even more Marvel superheroes under its umbrella, such as the X-Men. However, many of the most prominent actors portraying these iconic mutants have either already ended their tenures or are nearing the end of their contracts.

Channing couldn’t imagine anything he might do that would match the significance of what Ryan had helped him accomplish in his film career, as he expressed with great enthusiasm.

He expressed his affection for his friend, saying, “I adore you, buddy,” and gave a shout-out to director Shawn Levy, praising him as an exceptionally talented artist in all aspects of filmmaking. (or)

The Blink Twice star concluded by opining that ‘All things happen for a reason.’

“He expressed his heartfelt appreciation for being part of this film, calling it a true masterpiece. It was an absolute thrill that left him ecstatic; he could hardly contain himself during the screening, shouting with excitement.”

In two pictures, Channing showcased his deep appreciation for playing Gambit by donning a stylish shirt adorned with the comic book character, mirroring the image in both his own photo and that of Ryan. The photos were taken almost a decade apart.

On the black T-shirt, there was a stylish representation of Gambit’s square-faced character as seen in the comic books. His typical headwear was visible, and a vibrant tuft of hair peeked out from above it.

‘Check your pockets,’ read the shirt’s text.

In the picture taken at this year’s Comic-Con, the gentlemen appeared to be a bit more mature yet remarkably vibrant.

In the realm of cosplay, I took on the role of Gambit this time around, and while Channing’s iconic shirt was still present, I opted for a wig with a striking difference in hair color. Additionally, instead of his usual stylish brown jacket, I decided to swap it out for a fashionable pale pink button-up short-sleeve shirt.

In an Instagram post, Ryan Reynolds, known for playing Deadpool, reciprocated Channing’s kind words by sharing his picture on his story.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, let me paint a picture for you: Picture yourself right up close, practically in the front row, witnessing a one-of-a-kind talent unfold. That’s Channing for you! Not only does he possess an extraordinary skillset that comes along rarely, but his genuine kindness sets him apart. Ryan couldn’t help but express his admiration for Channing in such glowing terms.

He has the ability to make a character seem real, as if they were actually brought to life. That’s what Chan did. And he portrayed this character in such a compelling way on-screen that it felt like he was destined for the role. This is how he described Chan’s cameo appearance as Gambit.

He mentioned that we both attended two San Diego Comic Cons. Two memorable days of my life took place when Channing Tatum donned this particular shirt. Is it just a coincidence, or is there a larger plan at work? He added humor to his statement and posed a question for fans to decide whether they believe it was a ‘coincidence’ or a ‘conspiracy.’

Channing, who recently posted sweet childhood snapshots, is set to appear in Zoë Kravitz’s first directorial film, originally titled “Pussy Island,” now known as “Blink Twice.” The latter title is less suggestive than the former one.

On his private island, he portrays a wealthy man, seemingly captivating, who extends an invitation to a waitress (Naomi Ackie), promising her a luxurious getaway that she anticipates.

However, as her friend (portrayed by Alia Shawkat) vanishes under peculiar circumstances involving the strange actions of the other attendees and the billionaire’s staff, she becomes increasingly worried about her own security.

The film also stars Hit Man’s Adria Arjona, Christian Slater, Red Rocket star Simon Rex, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment and Geena Davis.

In 2021, prior to starting filming, Channing entered into a romantic relationship that lasted until recently, and they became engaged sometime last year.
