Deadpool & Wolverine tops the box office yet again and crosses the $600M  domestic milestone during a weak Labor Day holiday weekend

As a hardcore Marvel fan with a lifetime of comic book adventures under my belt, I can honestly say that Deadpool & Wolverine’s dominance at the box office is nothing short of spectacular! Six weeks strong and still going strong, this superhero sequel has proven itself to be a true crowd-pleaser. The fact that it crossed the $600 million milestone during the traditionally weak Labor Day weekend is no small feat.

In a natural and easy-to-read manner, we could say: Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine maintained their box office success, claiming the number one position for the fifth time during its six weeks in cinemas.

In its sixth week on screen, the superhero sequel earned approximately $15.1 million, experiencing a slight decrease of only 17.1% compared to its earnings in the previous week at the box office, as reported by Box Office Mojo.

Over the four-day holiday period, it is approximated that the box office earnings totaled around $19.5 million. The film was screened in a grand total of 3,630 theaters nationwide during the extended weekend.

Over the past weekend, the earnings pushed Deadpool and Wolverine’s combined total to surpass the $600 million milestone at the U.S. box office, making them only the 16th films in history to achieve this feat.

Over the Labor Day weekend, it’s common for the box office to see a slowdown, signaling the conclusion of the summer film season. This is because schools across the nation are starting their academic years around this time.

Over the holiday weekend, Deadpool and Wolverine managed a solid $4,182 per theater on 3,630 screens.

Over the course of four days, its domestic earnings amounted to approximately $603.8 million, while globally it has earned around $1.3 billion.

Regardless of the immense achievements of Deadpool and Wolverine, the summer box office earnings this year have dropped drastically compared to 2023.

2024’s summer movie season saw a decrease of 14.3% compared to the previous year, and an even more significant drop of 26.6% compared to the year before that, which was 2019, the year prior to COVID-19.

Over the weekends, Deadpool and Wolverine have dominated the box office, except for one instance during their fourth release when they earned $30 million, finishing behind Alien: Romulus, which opened with an impressive $42 million.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m sharing an update on the box office performance of “Alien: Romulus.” In its third week, it slid another 43%, marking consecutive second-place finishes. It brought in a total of $9.3 million domestically, adding to its cumulative tally of $88.7 million.

In its third week, It Ends With Us maintained its strong position, earning $7.42 million, which represents a 36% decrease compared to the previous week. This brings its total domestic earnings up to an impressive $133.7 million.

This past weekend, the Reagan biopic featuring Dennis Quaid was one of the two newly released films hitting theaters, and it took in a box office total of $7.4 million, placing it fourth.

It debuted in 2,754 theaters but only managed to score a paltry $2,687 per-screen average for its opening weekend.

Tornadoes ended up fifth place in their seventh week with a revenue of $7.1 million, showing an unexpected 17.1% rise from the previous weekend, accumulating a total domestic earnings of $258 million.

Here are the final five of the top ten: Blink Twice ($4.6M, $15.3M domestic), The Forge ($4.6M, $14.3M domestic), Despicable Me 4 ($4.08M, $354.1M domestic), a new entry called Afraid ($3.7M), and Inside Out 2 ($2.7M, $650M domestic).

Over the coming weekend, cinemas will screen the eagerly anticipated sequel to Beetlejuice, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, along with the suspenseful film The Front Room starring Brandy Norwood.
