Deadpool & Wolverine ending explained: Is Deadpool now in the MCU?

I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the thrilling escapade that is “Deadpool & Wolverine”. As a seasoned viewer of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, I must say this one stood out for its unique blend of humor, action, and heart.

As a longtime Marvel comic book fan and avid reader of superhero stories, I can’t contain my excitement about “Deadpool & Wolverine.” This thrilling collaboration between two iconic characters is a must-read for any true comic book enthusiast.

In the initial Marvel Cinematic Universe film, “Deadpool” featuring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Logan, team up to safeguard their universe. The villainous Mr. Paradox, portrayed by Matthew Macfadyen from “Succession,” poses a danger of destroying it all.

After being turned down by the Avengers, Wade contemplated solving the problem by introducing a version of Wolverine from another universe (Earth 10005) into his own world. However, this solution came with a catch: it involved an extended journey, filled with appearances from Marvel characters and thrilling battles, lasting approximately two hours.

It’s important to note that significant plot reveals follow, so if you haven’t seen the film, it would be best to avoid continuing.

Deadpool & Wolverine ending explained

When Deadpool locates a Wolverine who is open to teaming up with him for the purpose of redeeming their past errors in saving their universe, they unwittingly end up in a realm referred to as The Void.

In the desolate world I call home, a Mad Max-esque wasteland, Marvel’s forsaken projects and forgotten characters meet their end. The Void is ruled by none other than Charles Xavier’s formidable sister Cassandra Nova, played brilliantly by Emma Corrin. Surrounding her are her ruffian gang, including the notorious Pyro and Juggernaut.

Following their exit from Cassandra’s stronghold, Deadpool and Wolverine search for a band of resilient rebels to aid them in the final battle against her.

As a longtime fan of comic books and superhero movies, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing some truly iconic characters brought to life on the big screen. One such experience that leaves a lasting impression is encountering the electrifying presence of Elektra, portrayed by the talented Jennifer Garner in both “Daredevil” (2003) and “Elektra” (2005). Her unforgettable performance left me on the edge of my seat.

Collaborating on a strategy, they aim to obtain Juggernaut’s helmet, the shield essential for guarding against Cassandra’s mental assaults, and discover a means to revert to their own realm.

Following an intense clash, I find myself in possession of the helmet. I toss it towards Deadpool, who swiftly puts it on Cassandra’s head. Her powers are now stripped from her, leaving her defenseless. Yet, despite this, Wolverine remains hesitant to take her life. His teachings from Professor X echo in his mind – compassion and kindness.

When I take off my helmet, I’m pleasantly surprised by Cassandra’s unique gesture of goodwill. She produces a stolen sling ring from an amateur magician and employs it to create a gateway to Earth 10005.

Despite being deceived by Paradox who ordered Pyro to harm her, Cassandra insists on joining the journey. Now, she intends to employ the Time Ripper to annihilate all universes, leaving behind only The Void.

As a gamer, I can tell you that when Deadpool and Wolverine were on a mission to take down a formidable foe, little did they know that their path was going to be filled with unexpected challenges. Before reaching their target, they found themselves in the middle of a battlefield, surrounded by an overwhelming number of Deadpool clones.

In this scenario, the battle would have persisted indefinitely due to the regenerative abilities of those involved. However, just when it seemed all hope was lost, Earth-10005’s Peter (Rob Delaney) entered the fray, dressed as Deadpool or “Peterpool.” An intriguing twist: every Deadpool universe harbors a beloved Peter. It’s understandable why they adore him so much.

While the Deadpools are preoccupied, the heroes make their move below ground to thwart Cassandra. The solution, as suggested by Paradox, involves establishing a connection between the matter and antimatter energy sources, effectively disrupting the structure by short-circuiting it.

The major downside is that the individual who performs this action may face irreparable damage or destruction beyond the reach of any restorative abilities.

Logan is determined to rectify past mistakes in his own reality, but Deadpool beats him to it. However, be warned, the tenacious Wolverine refuses to give up. He ultimately breaks down the barricaded entrance and constructs a pathway alongside his new ally.

With their combined might, only one life was lost instead of two. Together, they managed to thwart the Time Ripper and Cassandra Nova, thereby preserving the multiverse.

An official representative from TVA, headed by B-15 portrayed by Wunmi Mosaku from Loki, makes an appearance to apprehend Paradox.

Later on, Wade queries Logan about his upcoming plans. “I’ll work it out,” Logan replies, implying that they might not cross paths frequently.

Yet, he agrees to join Deadpool for a dinner at his home. It is there that we reconnect not only with Wade’s acquainted friends, previously introduced in the movie, but also with X-23, who was saved from The Void by the TVA.

As Wade approaches Vanessa once more, he shares with her the reason behind his recent heroics (“I did it for you,” he explains), and there are signs that she is open to renewing their relationship.

The final lines from Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine are, “Occasionally, those we protect end up rescuing us in return.”

Will Deadpool and Wolverine come back to the MCU?

From my gaming perspective, I was expecting a more explosive and action-packed debut for Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but his team-up with Wolverine turned out to be a rather confined adventure instead.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: In the movie, when I first saw Happy Hogan, played by Jon Favreau, he turned down Deadpool’s request to join the Avengers. But here’s the thing – it wasn’t about him not wanting the Avengers, it was about the fact that ordinary people needed the Avengers to protect the world.

As I watched him give his life to protect the multiverse in the final moments, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for his selflessness and bravery. It struck me then that perhaps he had finally understood the true meaning of being an Avenger – putting the greater good above one’s own safety. Could this heroic act be the key to unlocking his potential as a valued member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?

In due time, we’ll find out if the profanely speaking superhero makes an appearance in the MCU film rated 12A. It’s challenging to envision this scenario at present, but there’s a chance he could join the team later on.

Regarding a potential fourth Deadpool film, Ryan Reynolds has expressed reluctance towards the proposal during an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” When questioned about the project’s progression, the actor shared his current reservations.

“Oh dear, not this. My wife and children might leave me,” he admitted, further explaining, “I don’t have a prenuptial agreement with any of them. Consequently, I would be penniless and might end up taking on a role in ‘Deadpool 4’ just to make ends meet.”

During a different conversation, he mentioned that the collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine was considered a standalone project with no intention of promoting another film, indicating they hadn’t planned ahead.

He might change his mind, but for now don’t expect Deadpool on the big screen anytime soon.

Does anyone die in Deadpool & Wolverine?

In the MCU, death often holds little significance due to the presence of alternate universes and characters like Deadpool and Wolverine who can defy it. Hence, the perception of finality is frequently challenged.

In the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, unfortunately, the character John Stanley a.k.a. Human Torch (previously brought to life by Chris Evans in “Fantastic Four” of 2005) meets his end and is not anticipated to make an appearance again.

In the film, I shudder at the thought of what Cassandra Nova does to him. There’s no returning from being skinned alive. Frankly, I don’t think anyone would want that for him, or for themselves.

An equally charming version of Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and known for his canine companion-focused antics (Dogpool’s owner), unfortunately succumbs to death, making him the unique Deadpool unable to heal.

It seems that Cassandra perishes together with the Time Ripper, yet since there’s no visible remains, she may still reappear.

Among the lesser casualties are Sabretooth and other minions of Cassandra’s X-Men team, as well as a multitude of Television Association agents.

In the movie’s ending, despite Alioth’s arrival and seemingly devouring everything, the futures of Blade, Elektra, and Gambit remain uncertain. However, we find Laura alive and in good health. Interestingly enough, she is also present at the end.

They’re probably dead, but never say never.
