Deadpool & Wolverine aiming for Oscar glory for Hugh Jackman

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the prospect of Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine gracing the screen once more in “Deadpool & Wolverine” has filled me with an unparalleled level of excitement. Having grown up watching Jackman embody the iconic character, it’s a treat to see him return after seven long years.

The makers of Deadpool and Wolverine are gunning for recognition during the award seasons, with plans to push for Oscar nominations, especially for Hugh Jackman.

In the third installment of the Deadpool series, both audiences and critics have shown their approval, with strong box office returns. Now, it’s being reported that the movie’s team has commenced their campaign for awards recognition during the upcoming season.

After a seven-year hiatus, Jackman is being contemplated for nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category across various award ceremonies such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Critics Choice Awards, as he reprises his iconic role as Wolverine.

In the Golden Globes, the movie is going to compete in both the Comedy and Musical categories, while Ryan Reynolds, who stars alongside Jackman, is being considered for a nomination in the Best Actor category.

Moreover, the movie is planning to vie for multiple technical honors at the forthcoming Oscars, with nominations in fields such as Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Editing, and Best Art Direction.

Jackman has been previously nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actor category due to his portrayal of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. If he manages to win an Academy Award, he will join a select few who have achieved an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award (EGOT) at least once.

As Deadpool and Wolverine strive for award recognition, Ryan Reynolds has raised questions about the character’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He mentioned that director Shawn Levy doesn’t seem to be planning a sequel at this time.

Reynolds remarked, “To put it simply, Shawn and I have been very explicit.” He added, in a thoughtful manner, that discussing the greatest challenge any individuals might face – such as a studio needing to constantly produce new content – is like asking, ‘What’s next?’ or ‘How can we create something else?’ with genuine care.

This film wasn’t designed to promote another movie or serve any other purpose. Instead, it was crafted as a standalone experience. Creating such a movie brings me genuine pleasure.

Reynolds stated: “To be honest, at this very instant, I’m unsure if I’ll ever put on the Deadpool suit again – I certainly hope so — yet, I can’t say for sure.

He also said he felt it was the time to “kind of hang it up for a bit” and explore other projects.

Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in cinemas.
