Deadpool Creator Denies Ryan Reynolds’ New Project Rumors

The creator alongside Deadpool, Rob Liefeld, has dismissed speculation that actor Ryan Reynolds, famous for playing Deadpool, is currently working on a fresh project starring the Merc With a Mouth. This statement comes in response to Deadpool Updates’ post suggesting Reynolds had mentioned such a project to Time magazine.

To set the record straight, the renowned comic book creator, who swore off future collaborations with Marvel, made it clear that Reynolds is working on an entirely distinct project. In response to the post, Liefeld simply noted, “Just a heads up, he’s writing a film titled ‘Boy Band.'” Reynolds recently hinted, “I’m penning something at the moment. It’s a group effort.” If a fourth Deadpool movie were to materialize, it’s likely that Liefeld would not be involved, given his decision to part ways with Marvel after reportedly experiencing mistreatment from the company.

In a February episode of his Robservations podcast, the creator of Deadpool openly expressed his feelings regarding an incident. Liefeld confessed that he only learned at the New York premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine that neither he nor his family were invited to the post-screening event, which took him by surprise since it wasn’t usual for him. Additionally, he felt disrespected on the red carpet when Feige, the Marvel boss, allegedly failed to acknowledge him, a creator whom Liefeld believes is unkind towards comic book creators.

Liefeld advocated for Feige’s removal from his position, as he expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the fourth Captain America movie in its second weekend at the domestic box office, which earned $7.2M, a significant decrease of 82.4% compared to its opening day. Putting it plainly, Liefeld said, “Feige has had his turn; it’s time for him to step down.”

Speaking about the Time interview that seemed to hint at Reynolds penning another Deadpool installment, I couldn’t help but ponder if he might step into a supporting role in one of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbusters such as Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, and the eagerly awaited X-Men reboot.

As a diehard fan, I find myself resonating deeply with the Canadian actor’s perspective. He’s made it clear that his character wouldn’t suit the Avengers or X-Men universe.
