  • Bebop: Hyper Beam cooldown increased from 117 to 130
  • Bebop: Hyper Beam T1 reduced from -38s to -30s
  • Bebop: Hyper Beam end radius reduced from 5m to 4m
  • Bebop: Hyper Beam slow reduced from 40% to 30%
  • Bebop: Hyper Beam DPS reduced from 220 to 205
  • Bebop: Hyper Beam DPS spirit scaling reduced from 3 to 2.7

September 12, 2024: 24/7 matchmaking, huge Kelvin nerfs, and new minimap

The September 12 Deadlock update contained several noteworthy modifications. Primarily, the game’s matchmaking system can now be accessed around the clock in all regions. Additionally, Valve introduced a fresh minimap, and implemented balance adjustments to numerous characters, with Kelvin receiving significant changes among them.

  • Kelvin: Arctic Beam fire rate slow reduced from 80% to 40%
  • Kelvin: Arctic Beam movement slow reduced from 80% to 70%
  • Kelvin: Objectives and Rejuvenator are now frozen and invulnerable when under frozen shelter
  • Kelvin: Ice Path and Arctic Beam can now also be canceled by hitting the ability key again

September 1, 2024: Plenty of Viscous nerfs

On September 1, the Deadlock update didn’t offer a lot, but it did significantly tone down one hero named Viscous, which is certainly noteworthy.

  • Viscous: Puddle Punch base cast range from 60m to 40m
  • Viscous: Puddle Punch T2 damage from +50 to +35
  • Viscous: Puddle Punch base cooldown increased from 24 to 28
  • Viscous: Puddle Punch now knocks people less high into the air
  • Viscous: Base clip reduced from 24 to 20, Alt Fire now requires 5 bullets

August 29, 2024: Huge map updates and introduction of wall jumping

Among the significant updates, the August 29th patch stands out as one of the largest. Although it included numerous balance adjustments, what truly caught players’ attention was the extensive remodeling of the game maps and the introduction of wall jumping.

  • Added wall jumping (does not consume stamina, requires input direction away from the wall, can be done once)
  • Added ropes to some buildings to let you climb up (hold jump key to latch onto them). Can shoot while hanging on them.
  • A pair of teleporters has been added to the outer lanes at the midpoint (near the three red neutral creeps)
  • Four teleporters have changed locations
  • The upper floor teleporters have moved to the street level
  • The interior teleporters have moved to the Bodega building and the Theater
  • Teleporters are closed for the first 10 minutes (they look visually closed)
  • Several buildings have been made taller to make their rooftops out of bounds
  • Several buildings have been made shorter to make them more accessible
  • A few of the buildings have new passageways at higher floors that are along the way to the rooftop

August 23, 2024: Valve announced Deadlock, lifted streaming restrictions

Initially, even though everyone was aware of Deadlock through playtesting, Valve showed hesitation in making an official announcement about the game. However, on August 23rd, they decided to unveil Deadlock and gave permission for community websites, discussions, and notably, players to stream the game.
