As a long-time fan who’s spent countless hours dodging, slashing, and cursing my way through the labyrinthine halls of Dead Cells, I can’t help but feel a tinge of melancholy with the release of Update 35: The End is Near. Seven years, 35 updates, multiple expansions, and over 10 million copies sold later, it seems our beloved Beheaded has finally reached the end of his journey.
Today, Motion Twin and Evil Empire have unveiled the last installment for “Dead Cells,” titled “The End is Near.” This free update signifies the conclusion of new content releases for Dead Cells, following seven years, thirty-five updates, multiple expansions (including a collaboration with Castlevania), and over 10 million copies sold.
The story of The Beheaded reaches its end by introducing three additional characters (The Sore Loser, Curser, and Doom Bringer), two new melee weapons (Misericorde and Anathema), and an additional three mutations (Cursed Flask, Damned Vigor, and Demonic Strength). Additionally, 40 unique heads are now available to discover and wear.
Update 35 for Dead Cells titled “The End is Near” has been released on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. For comprehensive details about the gameplay enhancements and additional features, you can explore the complete patch notes. Meanwhile, Motion Twin and Evil Empire have transitioned to developing Windblown, a swift-paced single player and cooperative roguelike set to debut in early access later this year.
