As a seasoned survivor of the haunted realm that is Dead by Daylight, I must say, the latest chapter ‘Doomed Course’ has sent chills down my spine! The pirate-themed atmosphere and the introduction of the ruthless Houndmaster have added an exhilarating layer to the game.
In the latest development, Dead by Daylight introduces its newest original chapter titled ‘Doomed Course’. Unlike the previous chapter, ‘All Things Wicked’, this one transports players to an era of pirates and plunderers. The main antagonist in this chapter is a character named The Houndmaster, driven by a relentless thirst for vengeance.
On the contrary, the latest Survivor is Taurie Cain, a woman who spent many years dedicating herself to The Entity but now finds herself immersed in The Fog. She’s the most morally ambiguous character in Dead by Daylight so far, having been involved with the sinister Black Talon organization. However, when she was unable to kill an innocent man, she was claimed by The Fog instead.
As The Houndmaster walks with her faithful hound Snug by her side, equipped with a ‘Scent of Blood’ ability capable of locating Survivors within the ‘Houndsense’ range, Taurie may opt to suffer injuries throughout the trial, especially in the Basement. This choice will reveal the Killer’s Aura to all Survivors whenever they trigger a Crow’s disturbance.
Taurie has the ability to recover her missing Health States by healing another survivor and getting healed herself, but this action leaves her in a ‘Broken’ state. If you manage to endure being ‘Broken’ for an extended period, your lost Health States will be restored. Moreover, if you use the ‘Shoulder the Burden’ skill, you can free a survivor from a trap, at the expense of one of your own Health States.
The Houndmaster has the ability to order Snug to pursue a Survivor and pin them down, as it leaps from a high point for an extended reach and hooks the Survivor on a Scourge Hook, momentarily exposing the Generator that’s progressed the most. Additionally, the Houndmaster can perform ‘No Quarter’, challenging Survivors with difficult Skill Checks when they attempt to heal themselves. If they fail these checks, they will temporarily become incapacitated (Broken).
