Dead by Daylight dev shares Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover for 2025
As a seasoned survivor of countless nights spent huddled under my bedcovers, peeking through gaps in my fingers to catch glimpses of the eerie world beyond, the announcement of Five Nights at Freddy’s joining Dead by Daylight fills me with a strange mixture of anticipation and dread.
In Dead by Daylight, a diverse lineup of original characters and horror icons from various franchises such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, The Ring, Stranger Things, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Dungeons & Dragons, and Castlevania are already present. However, an exciting collaboration is on the horizon, introducing yet another surprising pop culture figure into the game. Behaviour Interactive revealed this week that a Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover is planned for Summer 2025.
As I dive into a game of Dead by Daylight, five of us take on roles in the chilling arena. Four of us become Survivors, finding ourselves powerless and unarmed, but we’re assigned with the mission to activate generators and make our escape from the treacherous grounds before the relentless Killer tracks us down. Armed with a lethal arsenal of abilities, this Killer is always hot on our heels, making it a thrilling battle for survival. It’s not hard to imagine that the murderous animatronics from Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza could easily fit into this heart-pounding formula.

The popular Five Nights at Freddy’s series has expanded to encompass multiple video games, books, and even a movie version. It remains undetermined which elements from the franchise Behaviour Interactive will draw upon for this partnership; some updates may merely introduce a Killer or Survivor character, while a complete Chapter could incorporate both, as well as a fresh map. Given the extensive collection of games in the series, it’s intriguing to speculate about which aspects might inspire the design of the Killer and its powers in the collaboration.
In addition to the gameplay, Dead by Daylight offers gruesome animations for its killers, each having a unique “Momento Mori” scene that demonstrates their method of killing an unfortunate Survivor. The thought of Freddy Fazbear executing someone with his bear paws makes me uneasy, but fortunately, I don’t have to be disturbed by this grisly image for another year or so.
