A recent report reveals that Captain Atom, one of DC’s most powerful heroes, will appear in Season 2 of the DCU’s Creature Commandos. The show’s second season was announced in December 2024, before the first season concluded. Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Season 2. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, not only created the series but also wrote all seven episodes of the first season. The voice cast includes Indira Verma, Sean Gunn, Alan Tudyk, Zoë Chao, David Harbour, and Frank Grillo, among others.
Captain Atom said to make DCU debut in Creature Commandos Season 2
Captain Atom is expected to appear in the second season of Creature Commandos, marking his first appearance in the DC Universe, according to Nexus Point News. He’ll be a recurring character, though details about his story are still under wraps. The actor who will voice Captain Atom hasn’t been announced yet.
The Captain Atom character planned for the series is based on Nathaniel Adam. Before him, in the original comics, Captain Atom was Allen Adam, a rocket technician who got his powers when an experimental rocket he was in exploded, breaking him down into atomic form.
The character of Captain Atom, as Nathaniel Adam, first appeared in DC Comics’ Captain Atom vol. 3, issue #1. In the comics, Adam is a Vietnam War veteran and Air Force pilot who gains superpowers through a scientific experiment. This experiment also covers his body in a metal material called Dilustel and unexpectedly sends him forward in time, where he eventually works for the U.S. government.
Captain Atom is incredibly powerful, possessing abilities like super strength, speed, and flight. He can also absorb energy and even create matter. Beyond his powers, he’s a highly trained fighter thanks to his background in the military.
Captain Atom has been featured in several DC animated projects since he was created. He’s had important parts in shows and movies like Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice, and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.
Right now, Captain Atom appearing in Season 2 of Creature Commandos is just a rumor, as James Gunn hasn’t confirmed it yet. But if he does appear in the animated series, it could lead to him being introduced in live-action DC Universe movies or shows down the line.
