DC’s Lanterns’ HBO Max Release Date Estimate, News & Updates
Fans eagerly await the launch date for Chris Mundy’s upcoming superhero series, “DC’s Lanterns,” which focuses on the exploits of veteran hero Hal Jordan and his new partner John Stewart. This gripping tale unfolds as they delve into a murder case in Nebraska, only to discover deeper, more enigmatic secrets at work.
Here’s everything you need to know about its release date and the latest updates.
What is the DC’s Lanterns release date estimate?
The estimated release date for DC’s Lanterns is early 2026.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the DC Studios and HBO Max’s Lanterns series has officially wrapped up its filming. Now, we move into the post-production phase, a crucial step that can last anywhere from several months to an entire year before it graces our screens.
In this context, the project involves making adjustments (editing), adding special visual elements (visual effects), and creating sound components (sound design). All of these elements are vital for a high-budget production. Assuming there are no unexpected setbacks, Lanterns, which finished filming in July, might be released in early 2026.
DC’s Lanterns news and updates
James Gunn, who serves as co-CEO and Chair at DC Studios, revealed that “Lanterns” will be featured in the lineup called “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters”. In a video, he detailed the storyline:
This series focuses on two Green Lanterns, John Stewart and Hal Jordan, although there are other Lanterns involved as well. It’s primarily set on Earth and can be thought of as a space cop drama similar to True Detective. The protagonists in this show uncover a chilling mystery that connects to the largest storyline within the DC Universe.
The show will be made up of eight individual episodes. In this production, Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre portrays John Stewart, Kelly Macdonald takes on Kerry, and Nathan Fillion is cast as Guy Gardner. Gunn, Peter Safran, Damon Lindelof, Tom King, Chris Mundy, James Hawes, and Ron Schmidt are the show’s executive producers.
Lanterns will premiere on HBO Max, joining other major DCU titles.
