DC’s First Supervillain Team Revealed

James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe (DCU) is yet to launch its initial live-action project (“Superman”), but fans have already caught a glimpse of the universe’s first ever supervillain team. It appears that multiple teams will be part of the DCU. Fans were given a sneak peek at the Creature Commandos in action through a Max TV series dedicated to this particular team, and trailers and marketing materials have confirmed that “Superman” will include several members of what Gunn refers to as the Justice Gang. However, these aren’t the only teams that have been unveiled.

In the recently unveiled preview for Superman, the DC Universe’s inaugural supervillain squad was officially disclosed. Each character making up this squad has previously appeared in promotional content related to Superman, but they were displayed united as a team for the very first time in the latest trailer.

It’s important to point out that while the Creature Commandos were indeed part of the new franchise, they weren’t its first group of villains. Characters like Rick Flag Sr., Nina, and the Bride can be considered more as anti-heroes at their best, or even worse, if you look at it from another perspective.

Every Member of the DCU’s First Villainous Superteam

Lex Luthor

In Gunn’s take on Lex Luthor, a significant shift from Snyder’s portrayal of the character is expected. This new version of Lex Luthor is likely to spearhead the villainous alliance that will feature prominently in Superman>. Given his role as the overarching antagonist and mastermind, each member of this coalition will be under his command and direction.

In the latest trailer for Superman, it appears that the spotlight has shifted towards the movie’s villains as compared to earlier trailers, teasers, or television spots. Specifically, Lex Luthor speaks more in the recent footage, thereby making him stand out more than in previous footage.

Eve Teschmacher

Eve Teschmacher, an unexpected addition to the supervillain crew, is set to join Lex Luthor and the rest of the team on their missions, as suggested by the latest trailer. For instance, in the new footage, she’s depicted side by side with Lex and the other gang members as they make their way into the Fortress of Solitude.

In prior renditions of Superman, Eve hasn’t been your typical supervillain. As we await the release of Superman and possible future appearances of Eve in the DCU, her character won’t be fully developed yet. However, actress Sara Sampaio has hinted that she will exhibit a degree of internal struggle greater than other adversaries in this new version.

Ultraman

In almost every promotional material related to Superman so far, Ultraman has made an appearance, indicating a significant role in the upcoming film. It appears that he will engage in multiple confrontations with Superman in this movie, leading fans to brace themselves for a fierce rivalry set to unfold on July 11 when Superman is released.

The newly released trailer indicates that the character enters the Fortress of Solitude alongside Lex and Eve, yet suggests the appearance of Ultraman without his mask. In the original storyline, Ultraman represents a malevolent counterpart of Superman from another dimension. It seems like this version of Superman might be leading the character down a different path, but viewers will have to watch the upcoming movie to uncover all the mysteries about Ultraman.

The Engineer

As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that María Gabriela de Faría’s character, Angela Spica (or The Engineer), will be joining DCU’s inaugural supervillain team! Just like Ultraman, she’s been prominently featured in the movie’s promotional materials and had a significant presence in the latest trailer.

In the recent clips, it’s apparent that the Engineer ventures into the Citadel of Seclusion, hinting at a significant part in an impending action scene there. Given her abilities derived from nanotechnology embedded within, she promises to be a formidable asset for the team.

The recently released trailer for _Superman_ highlighted numerous instances of the DC Universe’s initial group of supervillains. Notably, these visuals appeared to stem from a single scene where all four figures were depicted making their entrance into the Fortress of Solitude.

Initially, a trio of teammates donned completely black attire, while Eve Teschmacher was the lone exception in white clothing. This color choice could hint at a possible redemptive future for Eve. The scene takes place with these individuals positioned before the Fortress’ entrance, under the watchful gaze of the massive Superman emblem hovering overhead.

A fresh angle was captured within the fortress, showing a full view of the entire DCU’s new team standing at the forefront just before entering. This specific shot offers an excellent display of all four team members.

Another scene from the Fortress of Solitude featured the team actively engaged. Lex could be spotted traversing the Fortress, followed closely by Eve, as a weapon fashioned by The Engineer whizzed past them.
