DC Studios Set Photos Confirm DCU Batman’s 2nd Robin

The recently released set images for DC Studios‘ Batman spin-off film titled “Clayface” seem to hint at the presence of a new Robin character within the DC Universe. Unlike the Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” series, which focuses on a younger Dark Knight, portrayed by Robert Pattinson, the DCU’s Batman is already well-established and will be surrounded by his Bat-Family. This dynamic will be thoroughly explored for the first time in “The Brave and the Bold,” starring a recast Batman and his son-turned-Robin, Damian Wayne. “Clayface” will mark the beginning of our exploration into Gotham City.

With Clayface’s ongoing production in the U.K., recent set images have hinted at several DC characters yet to be officially announced for the revamped DC Universe, including Black Canary and Black Mask. The most recent revelation is Dick Grayson, also known as the original Robin, adding him to the list of confirmed characters for the DCU. This makes him the second “Boy Wonder” in the lineup.

Astute onlookers at the location noticed a promotional poster showcasing “The Flying Graysons,” an extraordinary circus act known as the acrobatic team consisting of Dick, alongside his father John, and mother Mary.

The murder of the Grayson parents, which left Dick as an orphan, was masterminded by Tony Zucco, a criminal figure, and it was this event that eventually led to him being taken in by Bruce Wayne, who would go on to train him as Robin.

It’s not unexpected now that DC Studios has revealed Damian Wayne, Bruce’s biological son, as the Robin debuting in The Brave and the Bold. Since he is chronologically the fourth Robin in DC Comics, it was assumed that Richard Grayson (formerly known as Nightwing), Jason Todd, and Tim Drake would have already taken on the role.

At present, Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne are the only Robins officially acknowledged in the DC Universe. However, it’s highly probable that there may be more Robins in existence.

DC Studios hinted that additional members from Batman’s extended family might show up in The Brave and the Bold (a team featuring around eight characters connected to Batman). Dick Grayson, who has surpassed his Robin years, could be one of these characters, now known as Nightwing, established in Bludhaven.

As a follower, if the Flying Graysons are performing as an acrobat troupe during the Clayface incident, and this poster has been hanging in Gotham for quite some time, it appears more and more probable that the chilling events depicted in the DC Universe transpired in the past.

Although there’s no set launch date for “The Brave and the Bold” at this moment, “Clayface” is scheduled to debut and immerse viewers in the DC Universe’s Gotham and Batman lore on September 11, 2026.

When Will Dick Grayson Make His DCU Debut?

It appears that Dick Grayson might not make an appearance in Clayface, given the narrative primarily revolves around Matt Hagen’s body horror. However, if the DC Universe film happens to be set in the past, it could potentially showcase the tragic fall of the Flying Graysons, with Hagen possibly attending the circus to bear witness to their fate.

It’s unlikely that Grayson will show up in “The Brave and the Bold” with a secondary role as Nightwing. Fans are hoping, though, that he’ll eventually get his chance to shine on either the big screen or TV, considering a Nightwing movie was stuck in development limbo before James Gunn took over DC.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned about an exciting new project in the works by DC Studios – a uniquely animated movie called “Dynamic Duo”. This upcoming film promises to feature none other than Grayson and Jason Todd in starring roles. This Robin-centric Batman spin-off is rumored to be an Elseworlds tale, meaning we may see a different side of these characters than what we’re used to in the main DC Universe. As for their official debut within the DCU, it seems that’s still up in the air for now. Can’t wait to see this story unfold!
