Netflix has consistently secured major franchises, and their newest deal could bring the “Snyderverse” back to life as the DC Universe is growing. For over ten years, Netflix has been building up its own original content, and recently they’ve focused on buying the rights to well-known properties.
Netflix is building a strong collection of popular stories, from the works of Roald Dahl and C.S. Lewis, to help guarantee its future success. Recently, they’ve been talking about buying Warner Bros., which owns many famous franchises like Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, the Monsterverse, and all of the DC Universe content.
Warner Bros. has been careful about making a deal with any single company, but it now appears Netflix has reached an agreement with them. While the process will take a while – largely because Warner Bros. needs to finalize its separation from Discovery Global – the deal is expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months if everything proceeds as planned.
Both Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery’s boards fully approved the deal. Finalizing it still depends on getting the necessary regulatory approvals, a vote of approval from Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders, and satisfying other standard requirements. They anticipate the deal will be completed within 12 to 18 months.
Netflix-Warner Bros. Acquisition Sparks Snyderverse Return Hopes

With these two major brands now combined, we can expect some exciting new projects in the future, after the initial changes have been fully implemented. This merger will likely encourage fans – especially those passionate about things like the Snyderverse – to continue pushing for the content they want to see.
Zack Snyder has worked extensively with Netflix recently. Now that Netflix is handling DC projects, some executives might consider reviving Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe, as many dedicated fans have been requesting it, and believe it could be a successful move.
The DC Universe Is Expected To Be One Of Netflix’s Priorities

Importantly, how Netflix manages the DC Universe after the acquisition will be a key focus. Warner Bros. is currently investing a lot in building the DC brand under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios, and with several movies still planned, it’s worth a closer look at what’s happening.
Warner Bros. houses many popular franchises like The Big Bang Theory, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and The Wizard of Oz. DC is another important part of the Warner Bros. family and requires careful attention to ensure its continued success.
Netflix has a strong track record of creating popular shows like Money Heist, Bridgerton, Adolescence, Extraction, and Stranger Things, as well as boosting the success of existing franchises, such as Wednesday. Bringing all these well-known titles together on one platform will make Netflix an even more formidable competitor for other streaming services and production companies.
Why The Snyderverse Return Is Still Unlikely

Despite everything, a return for Zack Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe seems highly unlikely. Warner Bros. is fully committed to its new plans for the DCU, with James Gunn leading the development of several upcoming projects. Because he’s in charge of DC Studios, Gunn would need to approve any effort to revive the Snyderverse.
Currently, DC plans to launch a core series of interconnected movies, TV shows, and video games, alongside standalone projects like Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II. Reviving an entirely separate, previously discontinued universe feels unnecessary and lacks long-term vision.
While restoring Zack Snyder’s vision might please some passionate DC fans, actually making it happen would be a huge challenge. Many of the actors from those films have moved on to other projects, and revisiting that version of the Justice League would be awkward for everyone involved.
Even though James Gunn and Zack Snyder seem to be on good terms, their competing visions would likely create unnecessary challenges for the newly developing DC Universe. This division would only split the fanbase and ultimately harm both the DCU and any potential Snyderverse projects.
There Are More Important Things Than The Snyderverse At Stake

This acquisition involves a lot more than just the price tag. Netflix, a streaming service, has bought a major, long-established production company. Because these two businesses operate very differently, they now face the challenge of successfully merging their operations.
Plus, Netflix is acquiring a lot of new content, requiring them to oversee many projects – not just those previously associated with the Snyderverse. They’ll need time to organize everything and make sure the shift happens seamlessly.
This deal goes beyond simply combining Netflix and DC Comics. It has the potential to dramatically change the entertainment industry, giving Netflix unprecedented control over how movies and shows are released. Given Warner Bros.’ history, it’s highly likely Netflix will also start releasing content in movie theaters.
In the long run, the impact of the Snyderverse isn’t very significant compared to the larger changes happening as Netflix takes over Warner Bros. and the situation continues to unfold.
