DC Officially Confirms Solomon Grundy’s Design For Batman’s New Appearance

The upcoming Batman movie features a lot of DC Comics villains, and Solomon Grundy’s design is particularly interesting. While Grundy is a cool character, he doesn’t appear often in DC’s live-action or animated projects, likely because he doesn’t say much.

Solomon Grundy is a compelling character thanks to his powerful physique and unique background. He’s appeared in various Batman animated series and even live-action shows like Gotham. Now, he’s back in the new Batman TV series, and his look is impressively faithful to the comics.

DC Has Revealed What Bat-Fam’s Solomon Grundy Looks Like

Prime Video’s new Batman series, known as Bat-Fam, stands out by offering a fresh, visually striking take on classic DC characters and their relationships, especially when it comes to the villains. The show cleverly reimagines these antagonists; for example, Ra’s al Ghul appears as a ghostly presence in Wayne Manor, and Volcana has been rejuvenated and is now being looked after by Batman.

The new story will affect many members of the “Bat-Family.” The series begins with Gotham City seemingly free of crime thanks to Batman’s efforts. But that peace doesn’t last, as familiar villains return to cause chaos. Some of those returning threats include Clayface, the Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, and Solomon Grundy.

Although the character designs have changed from the original comics, Solomon Grundy looks pretty much how DC fans remember him. He’s depicted with a torn suit, a striking contrast against his pale, white skin. Like Frankenstein’s monster, the stitches holding his body together are clearly visible. Fred Tatasciore provides the voice for Solomon Grundy in Bat-Fam.

How Bat-Fam’s Solomon Grundy Compares To Other Versions Of The DC Villain?

Solomon Grundy has appeared in live-action shows like Gotham and Stargirl. In Gotham, the character’s appearance was more grounded and realistic – Cyrus Gold looked like an ordinary person with pale skin and hair, and his scars were shown as dark lines instead of stitches. However, in Stargirl, Solomon Grundy’s look was closer to how he’s traditionally depicted in comic books.

As a fan, I was really impressed with how they brought Solomon Grundy to life! He looked exactly like the powerful, huge monster we see in the comics and cartoons – totally physically imposing. They even had his clothes all ripped, showing off his chest! This version of Grundy, though, feels more like the one from Stargirl than the darker, scarier one from the live-action Gotham. He’s a bit more human-looking, which makes him stand out from the Batman show version – it’s a different take on the character, for sure.
