DC Officially Confirms Batgirl’s Design For Batman’s New Appearance

Batman is getting a fresh look, and fans will be pleased with the new design. Joining him is Batgirl, who hasn’t had much luck recently. Warner Bros. Discovery cancelled her completed movie, and she hasn’t been included in plans for James Gunn’s new DC Universe yet.

While we’ll likely see Batgirl in the upcoming Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, because it will feature Damian Wayne, some fans might not want to wait that long. Luckily, another Batman project with a planned 2026 release date offers a sooner opportunity to see the character.

DC Has Revealed What Batwheels Season 3’s Batgirl Looks Like

The first episodes of Batwheels season 3 became available on HBO Max on December 5, 2025. DC fans have recently been able to continue watching the animated series, with the release of Batwheels season 3B on February 6, also on HBO Max. While the show centers around the vehicles used by Batman and his allies, many popular characters from the DC comics also make appearances.

The Bat-Family includes characters like Batman, Nightwing, and Batgirl, among others. Interestingly, while Dick Grayson is Nightwing in the animated Batman series, his friend and love interest, Barbara Gordon, isn’t the Batgirl featured in the new DC series. Instead, Cassandra Cain – often overlooked in other adaptations – plays Batgirl in Batwheels.

The fourth episode of Batwheels season 3, titled “Sizzie Strong,” which premiered on February 9th, features Batgirl’s most prominent role yet. The episode pits Batgirl and her motorcycle, Bibi, against Harley Quinn and her ATV, Jestah, during a concert. Batgirl, also known as Cassandra Cain, wears a primarily light purple suit accented with yellow on her boots, gloves, cape, and other details. When she’s not wearing her helmet, she has sleek black hair and a tiara shaped like a bat.

How Batwheels Season 3’s Batgirl Compares To Other Versions Of The DC Hero?

Although Cassandra Cain currently plays Batgirl in the animated Batman series, the design of the Batwheels character clearly draws inspiration from Barbara Gordon’s comic book background. The suit Batwheels wears is very similar to Batgirl’s well-known “Burnside” costume, which was almost used in the live-action Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace before the film was cancelled.

As a big fan, I’ve noticed a couple of cool differences between the Batgirl designs in the comics and the Batwheels show. The yellow on her suit is a bit more orange in the comics, which really pops. Plus, her suit in the show has this big black section around the knees, while the comic version uses black stripes down the sides of her legs. But honestly, the show does a great job – it stays true to the classic look we all love, but also gives it a really fresh feel. It’s a fantastic take on the character!
