DC just perfectly explained how Lois Lane became Superwoman

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comics under my belt, I can confidently say that Joshua Williamson is a master storyteller who consistently delivers captivating tales that keep readers on the edge of their seats. The recent revelation about Lois Lane’s newfound powers in DC Comics’ Superman No. 19 is no exception.

Despite any potential misgivings about the title, it’s important to acknowledge excellence where we see it. Joshua Williamson remains one of the top-tier writers in the literary world.

In the DC Comics series, Superman issue number 19 penned by Joshua Williamson, it felt unusual when Lois Lane unveiled her superpowers. Although she’s had superhuman abilities before, it still appeared odd. This was because she wasn’t present during the battle where powers were restored (Absolute Power issue 4), and all characters with Kryptonian powers were accounted for. So, how did she gain powers surpassing a locomotive? The answer to this mystery was beautifully explained in Superwoman Special issue 1.

“Superwoman Special #1”: The narrative unfolds with Lois Lane grappling with a creative roadblock, eventually discussing her predicament with Superwoman (Lana Lang) and Supergirl (Kara Zor-El). It’s during this conversation that she recounts the origin of her powers. An intriguing detail is that she herself isn’t sure how she acquired these abilities. However, Mercy Graves later reveals that the super suit Lois was wearing was linked to Amanda Waller’s Amazos. When the Amazos were removed and the energy they had absorbed was discharged, Lois unexpectedly received a unique power bestowal. Yet, this isn’t the full account of her story.

Initially, when Lois regained consciousness following her acquisition of powers, the super suit was missing. Mercy claimed she had no idea what became of it, but this was not true – Mercy had the suit all along. In truth, she confided in Lex Luthor’s daughter, Lena, that the suit was designed for space travel and that she was attempting to contact distant galaxies for a transmission. When Lena questioned Mercy about her deception, Mercy explained it was necessary to keep Lois ignorant regarding the armor’s purpose, which we may infer has something to do with harming or eliminating Superman.

Following this, two scientists were investigating the origin of Lois’ powers. They mentioned that all Kryptonians with powers had been accounted for. It was then revealed that a significant Kryptonian had been overlooked – General Zod. Indeed, Lois possesses his abilities, but he is far from pleased about it.

In a specific DC Comics issue penned by Joshua Williamson, we discover how Lois Lane gained her power and set the stage for two future narratives. Although Lex Luthor, the arch-nemesis of Superman, currently lacks his memory (due to the end of House of Brainiac), it will be restored along with his longstanding grudge against the Man of Steel. When General Zod discovers that the wife of his adversary has inadvertently or not obtained his strength, expect an enraged reaction from him. Keep an eye on TopMob to find out how these events unfold and conclude for both Luthor and Zod.
