Dax Shepard Reveals Shocking Salary Secret from Parenthood That Will Leave You Speechless!

Dax Shepard asserted a noteworthy statement regarding his earnings from the highly regarded prime-time series Parenthood, causing quite a stir.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d share that 50 years ago, an actor transitioning into podcasting graced our screens as Crosby on NBC’s family drama series. This show was set in the vibrant city of Berkeley, California, where the Braverman clan, a large and tight-knit group, made their home.

During a conversation with his ex-co-star Lauren Graham, who shared an unexpected fact about another cast member, on the March 10th edition of his Armchair Expert podcast, he steered the discussion towards the salary they earned as a team on the show.

As per Dax’s account, he discovered during filming that he was among the least remunerated main actors.

The performance featured a number of well-known actors, such as Peter Krause from Six Feet Under, Craig T. Nelson from Coach, Bonnie Bedelia from films, and Lauren, who was previously a lead in the hit WB show Gilmore Girls.

However, it was evident that Dax’s role was at the lower end of the salary scale whenever the team debated about choosing a modest gift for the entire crew.

‘There were 13 cast members, and we bought the gift,’ he recalled.

‘To be honest, figuring out what gift to get for the team and coordinating everyone’s contributions via email was a real challenge. It seemed like an endless exchange of messages, trying to decide between this mug or that one…it just wasn’t feasible.’

Dax chuckled grimly, implying he was one of the least paid actors, saying jokingly, “I should get them a coffee mug, I guess.

Despite being at the lower end of the salary scale, Dax opted for a different tactic when it came to discovering his peers’ positions in terms of earnings.

He admitted that on previous projects he ‘made it a point to find out what everyone was making.’

He expressed that he’d find a way, either by engaging someone in a discussion to learn what he needed or using a third party as an intermediary. In other words, he’d manage to uncover the information one way or another.

Instead, he adopted a more relaxed Zen philosophy towards parenting, choosing to go with the flow rather than exert control. This laid-back strategy ultimately turned out to be very effective for him.

He confessed that he deliberately chose not to learn about the plot twists while watching Parenthood, and he was extremely joyful throughout the series.

Yet, Dax playfully pondered what he might have done if he found out that Tyree Brown, the actor portraying his on-screen son Jabbar, received a more generous salary compared to him.

He playfully remarked, “If I discover that Jabbar is earning double what I make, how am I supposed to take pleasure in going to work?

‘That was the first time I ever broke that habit,’ he reiterated. ‘Boy, was it a blessing.’

Regardless of any doubts he may have had about his earnings from Parenthood, Dax has managed to accumulate a substantial fortune, with an estimated net worth of $60 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth.

A significant portion stemmed from an enormous $80 million contract he secured with Amazon for his Armchair Expert podcast.

Dax, partnered with the actress from ‘The Good Place’, Kristen Bell, appeared in ‘Parenthood’ for six seasons, from 2010 to 2015.

Despite a gradual decline in viewer interest over time, the show continued to be quite favored among viewers and garnered positive feedback from critics due to its entertaining nature.

The large ensemble featured actresses like Erika Christensen (known for her role in Traffic), Monica Potter, Mae Whitman, and Sarah Ramos as well.

In recent times, Dax has predominantly made a name for himself through his Armchair Expert podcast. However, he confessed that the prospect of a Parenthood reunion might be the rare exception to keep him before the cameras again.

He confessed that he no longer feels the urge to perform, but deeply yearns for the experience of being on Parenthood again. If given the opportunity, he might consider returning for a shorter season, say eight or ten episodes, as it would align better with his current professional commitments.

In another episode on Dax’s podcast, Lauren disclosed an unexpected fact about one of their co-stars from the Parenthood series.

In conversation about my on-screen relationship with Mae Whitman, I accidentally revealed that Miles, her real-life son born in August 2024, is my child as well.

36-year-old Whitman hasn’t disclosed her son’s father in public, however, Graham asserted that Carlos Valdes is likely the child’s father.

Mae and Carlos previously worked together on the Hulu musical comedy Up Here.
