Dax Shepard recently showed off his impressively muscular build on Instagram, looking remarkably like the X-Men character Wolverine. This came shortly after he playfully suggested he was hoping Marvel might reach out to him for a role.
Okay, so I’ve been noticing a big change in this actor – he’s really transformed his body! He admitted to gaining some weight during the pandemic – about two stone, actually – but it looks like he’s been putting in serious work at the gym. He was recently photographed looking incredibly fit in swimming trunks, and honestly, the results are amazing. It’s inspiring to see someone prioritize their health and well-being!
Dax recently had Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis as guests on his podcast, Armchair Expert. During the conversation, Dax playfully mentioned he’s been hoping Marvel would offer him a role for a decade, just so he’d have a reason to bulk up.
While in quarantine, he told his wife, Kristen Bell, that he’d been hoping for a call from Marvel for ten years, just so he’d have a good reason to bulk up.
He explained that they weren’t going to reach out – that opportunity had passed. At 46, he didn’t expect to hear from them, and was simply pursuing things for his own enjoyment now.
The actor revealed he works out six days a week and gained significant muscle by consistently following a strict diet and exercise plan.

He mentioned his fitness routine included heavy weightlifting, protein shakes, and intense effort – jokingly adding that he also used testosterone injections.
You know, I’ve been talking a lot about wellness lately, and something my clients consistently share is how exercise isn’t just about getting fit. It’s amazing for your mind too! They’ve found working out really boosts their mood and helps manage stress – it’s a total game-changer for overall wellbeing.
He explained that this new project reignited his passion for life and work. He’d been deeply depressed after his 2017 film, CHiPs, and was actually planning to retire. But this opportunity completely changed his outlook, giving him a renewed drive and making work enjoyable again.
The actor from Parenthood shared that his weight has increased from around 182 pounds (13 stone) to as much as 210 pounds (15 stone). He says he’s always been an average size, but now he’s larger and he’s happy with that.
Following the recent discussions about their relationship, Dax and Kristen shared a funny story about their chaotic holiday decorating experience, hoping to lighten the mood.
Dax and his wife shared a scary story on Jimmy Kimmel Live about their friend almost falling off their roof while putting up Christmas lights.
After receiving a surprisingly high $17,000 quote to decorate for the holidays, they asked a friend of Dax’s to do the job for a lower price.
Jimmy started talking about it after hearing from a neighbor that the couple had put up their decorations before Thanksgiving. Dax then explained that they actually put them up the day after Thanksgiving.

Honestly, it was so funny watching the interview! The host asked Dax if he’d put up all the holiday lights and decorations himself, and he said he did, but then quickly added that his wife started earning a lot more money and took over the task! It was a really relatable moment, and everyone laughed.
He said that Kristen’s post about Dax’s promise never to harm her had upset some fans, but the couple still wanted to go all-out with decorations for their Nashville home. They decided it was too expensive—around $17,000—to hire professionals to do the work.
Jimmy chimed in, saying it’s surprisingly expensive when you don’t handle things yourself – almost like you’re being penalized for it, he joked.
Dax added, ‘It’s as if they’re gonna make a bronze bust of someone in your front yard.’
Instead of hiring professionals, the couple asked Dax’s best friend to decorate, and they planned to fly him in from Detroit to do it at a lower cost.
Dax explained that instead of paying the originally quoted $17,000, he offered his friend, a former roofer with 25 years of experience, only $3,000 to do the work.
Dax thought it would be a great opportunity for his friend, but then pointed out his friend hadn’t been on a roof for almost twenty years, which made things more difficult.
Jimmy pointed out to the amused audience that this person was his closest friend, yet he was being paid less than a fifth of what the work was actually worth.

Dax was concerned that his best friend might fall off the roof, so he called him to share his worries before leaving for his flight.
Dax remembered telling him, ‘I don’t want to be the one giving your funeral speech, saying something like, “Some might say I saved your life by getting you into treatment, but I definitely killed you by making you put up Christmas lights at my place.”‘
Jimmy added that it would have been because he was ‘too cheap.’
Dax surprised everyone when he admitted his friend had fallen from the roof, but thankfully, safety ropes he’d prepared had caught him just in time.
This amusing situation follows a recent controversy where Kristen jokingly recalled a past promise from Dax not to harm her, which she brought up while they were celebrating their anniversary.
Jason Segel, known for his role in ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall,’ shared a humorous and slightly unsettling anniversary message to his husband. He quoted a past conversation, saying, ‘He once told me he’d never kill me, then added that a lot of men have killed their wives and, despite having a reason to, he wouldn’t.’ He accompanied the message with a heart emoji to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary.
The post received almost entirely negative reactions on social media, with many people calling it deeply insensitive and upsetting.
Kristen was taken to task by domestic violence survivors and their advocates in particular.
After the initial post, more instances of Dax making jokes about hurting his wife surfaced. At the same time, sources revealed troubling details about their difficult marriage to the Daily Mail.
