Dawson’s Creek’s James Van Der Beek reveals cancer diagnosis
As a gamer with a deep appreciation for pop culture and a soft spot for 90s TV shows, I was taken aback by the news about James Van Der Beek‘s battle against colorectal cancer. Having grown up watching Dawson’s Creek, it’s hard not to feel a personal connection to his journey.
Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek has revealed he’s been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
The performer, known for his latest role in the 2020 horror film “Bad Hair“, recently shared insights about handling a personal health issue privately and remains hopeful.
Van Der Beek shared with People magazine that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer. He’s been quietly managing this news and working towards a resolution, with the unwavering support of his remarkable family.
“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good,” he added.
Besides sharing via Instagram, Van Der Beek also disclosed his recent diagnosis. He felt compelled to do so on social media because he learned that a gossip magazine intended to publish the news about it first.
He has been managing this matter privately up until now, dedicating more time and energy than ever to his health through treatment. He feels great and is strong. It’s been quite a journey, and he will share more details when he is comfortable doing so.
I’m sorry to everyone I had intended to inform, as things haven’t unfolded according to my desired schedule.
Instead, let’s adapt to the unexpected twists, viewing them as guideposts that lead us towards a future of greater purpose than we could have found on our own, thanks to some higher power.
Afterward, Van Der Beek expressed his gratitude towards fans by saying that him, his wife Kimberly, and their six kids are “extremely thankful for all the affection and encouragement” they’ve received.
In the late 1990s, the actor became widely recognized for his portrayal of Dawson Leery in the teen drama series “Dawson’s Creek” on The WB, which featured Katie Holmes as Joey Potter, Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter, and Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley.
Originating from the mind of Kevin Williamson, who also penned the “Scream” movie script, this show made its debut in 1998 and continued for a span of six seasons.
