Davina McCall puts on an animated display with pal Hannah Waddingham as pair celebrate her Special Recognition win at the National Television Awards
As a long-time follower of the glamorous world of television, I find myself constantly in awe of the extraordinary talents that grace our screens and the camaraderie shared among them. Last night at the National Television Awards, I was absolutely thrilled to witness the heartwarming moment when my dear friend Davina McCall received the Special Recognition award.
On Wednesday night at the National Television Awards, I was absolutely thrilled to be in the same room as Davina McCall and Hannah Waddingham! Their camaraderie was palpable and their energy was infectious as they put on a lively show together. It was an evening I won’t forget anytime soon!
At the event, Davina received the Special Recognition award in acknowledgment of her significant achievements in television spanning over three decades.
The award was presented to her by Hannah, 50, who said on stage that she and Davina, 56, have been friends for a number of years.
When Davina stepped onto the stage, the duo shared a heartwarming hug. Later, in the winners’ room, they continued to ham it up, striking a succession of fun, playful poses together.
In response to receiving the award, Davina expressed her gratitude by saying, “Thank you an incredible amount! I am at a loss for words, I truly don’t know where to begin.
“I really enjoy my work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to talk about it with you. Some parts of it might appeal to you, while others might not. By the way, I’ve shared some insights about turkeys before!
I’ve been utterly captivated by the bond between these two extraordinary women, Davina and Hannah. Though the details of their friendship’s origin remain a mystery, what isn’t a secret is that they’ve both been shining stars in the entertainment world for years!
For the evening, Davina donned a striking leather dress that accentuated her shape with a fitted design, then gracefully flared into a mermaid-like tail skirt.
She matched the eye-catching gown with confident leopard-spotted high heels, while keeping her dark hair simple and casual.
At the same time, Hannah was stunning in a form-fitting, black strapless gown adorned with flowers.
At the 2024 National Television Awards held at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday evening, Ant and Dec received the Best Presenter award for an impressive record-breaking 23rd time. They were the leaders among the main winners of the event.
As Ant and Dec extended their unprecedented winning run, it turned out that Mr. Bates emerged as the primary winner of the evening, securing a total of three awards.
In recognition of his highly praised acting, Toby Jones received the award for Outstanding Performance in a Serialized Drama.
During his speech, the actor extended his warmest wishes to Sir Alan Bates, the dedicated Post Office campaigner, who recently got married to his long-term companion Susanne, over the weekend at Richard Branson’s private island.
He added: ‘This is an extraordinary project, brilliantly commissioned, directed with flare, and the best actors I could possibly hope to work with. I’m really honoured.’
Restating: The case of Mr. Bates versus The Post Office once again brought focus on the subpostmasters unjustly accused during the Horizon IT scandal. This issue was further acknowledged by the presentation of the Impact Award later that night.
In a turbulent year filled with scandals and controversies, Strictly Come Dancing was still awarded the honor of Best Talent Show at the National Television Awards on Wednesday evening.
Despite concerns about the future of the show due to accusations of abuse against dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, the BBC program managed to outshine Britain’s Got Talent, The Great British Bake Off, Masterchef, and The Voice, winning one of the evening’s major awards.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the National Television Awards (NTAs) are decided by the public. The fact that Strictly Come Dancing took home the win is a testament to the enduring support of viewers, as we eagerly await its 20th series this coming Saturday evening.
Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman were accompanied onstage by the show’s dance professionals and creatives, where they graciously received the award.
