Davina McCall is ‘engaged to hairstylist boyfriend Michael Douglas’ just weeks after revealing she has no plans to marry again

It’s said that Davina McCall is now engaged to her hairdresser partner, Michael Douglas. This news comes only a few weeks after she publicly stated she wouldn’t remarry.

The television host had been friends with Michael, a well-known hairstylist, for many years before their romantic relationship started, following the presenter’s divorce from Matthew Robertson in April 2018.

In 2018, they made their relationship public, and by January 2023, Michael had already moved in with her. Now, it’s being reported that the loving pair is planning to get married.

In order to make sure her nearest and dearest found out first, Davina skillfully maintained secrecy about her engagement and didn’t share the news with ITV executives.

Sharing some news about Davina, her friend mentioned that she wears a ring, but prefers to keep it hidden in public.

They expressed to The Sun that it’s fantastic news, leaving everyone who knows them overjoyed. Indeed, they are a stunning pair.

The friend mentioned that after going through a harrowing experience with a brain tumor a year ago, Davina now believes that life is simply too brief.

An ITV source said: ‘Davina kept it a secret for a long time, she didn’t even tell ITV.

She generally prefers to keep her personal matters private, so she decided it was important to inform her dear ones first before sharing the news with anyone else.

A noticeable shift occurred in Davina’s position, contrasting significantly with her statement a month prior, where she expressed her firm resolution to never remarry.

Although she has no plans to remarry, she shared with The Mirror, “We often take romantic vacations, but we haven’t gotten married.

‘We’re in the honeymoon period even after all these years. I couldn’t be more happy. 

‘And sometimes there’s an idea of, why change anything?’ 

In simpler terms, Davina shared that her late father instilled in her the importance of a strong relationship being built upon ‘camaraderie, appeal, reliability, and regard.’

She remarked: ‘If any essential elements are missing, love won’t grow properly. I completely agree with his assessment.’

She and Michael met when he styled her hair during her stint on Big Brother. 

Over time, they found they shared many similarities, which led them to maintain a strong friendship. However, it wasn’t until they both discovered mutual romantic feelings that their bond deepened beyond friendship.

As a devoted admirer might put it: “For 17 blissful years, I’ve been hitched to the extraordinary Matthew, sharing our lives and raising our magnificent brood – Holly, Chester, and the radiant Tilly.

Previously she was married to Andrew Leggett from 1997 until 1999.

She was given the Special Recognition prize for her near three-decade long career on screen.

Davina received a standing ovation from the crowd at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday. 

In a heartfelt television interview, friends Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond, and Claudia Winkleman shared stories about their friendships while expressing admiration for her professional accomplishments.

It left Davina in tears as she collected the award from Hannah Waddingham. 

Currently, Davina has shared the cause behind her intense emotions, discussing her harrowing experience with a brain tumor, which required surgery.

She shared with The Mirror that she discovered a brain tumor a year ago, was scheduled for surgery six weeks later, and winning the award held great significance for her at that time.

Everyone else could understand how significant it was for me, as it felt like it made the whole world to me, since I wasn’t certain about my future plans only six weeks away.

It held great importance to me, and it seemed like it represented everything to me because, at that moment, I didn’t know where life would take me over the next six weeks.
