David Tennant will be appearing in the new seasons of Rivals (starting in May) and Time later this year. If you’re a fan and can’t wait, we have a great movie recommendation for tonight!
David Tennant started gaining recognition in films with roles like those in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Bright Young Things, and one of his early movie appearances was in the 2009 British thriller Glorious 39, which was written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff.
The story unfolds in the summer of 1939, as Britain prepares for war. Anne Keyes (Romola Garai) unexpectedly discovers a dangerous conspiracy that puts her loved ones, including a vocal Member of Parliament named Hector (Tennant), in danger. Though others try to calm her fears, Anne investigates the truth, increasingly unsure if she can trust her own perceptions.

If you’re interested in watching it, good news! The film Glorious 39 is now available on Lionsgate+ in the UK, having been added to the streaming service recently.
You can watch Glorious 39 for free by adding Lionsgate+ to your Amazon Prime subscription and trying it out with a 7-day free trial. If you don’t already have Amazon Prime, you can sign up and get a 30-day free trial of the service.

Okay, so this thriller isn’t just Tennant and Garai – the cast is absolutely HUGE! We’re talking Bill Nighy, the legendary Christopher Lee, Eddie Redmayne, Juno Temple, Hugh Bonneville, Charlie Cox, Jenny Agutter, and even Julie Christie. Seriously, it’s packed with amazing actors – I’m already hyped!
Although critics weren’t overly impressed with Glorious 39 (it received a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 25 reviews), audiences generally liked it. One IMDb user called it “fantastic,” praising its suspense and atmosphere, and saying it felt “pure Hitchcock” and kept them “gripped from start to finish.”
Someone else praised the film’s captivating story, excellent performances, and beautiful visuals, saying it kept them on the edge of their seat and constantly guessing what would happen next.

David Tennant is returning as Doctor Who, but instead of appearing in new television shows, he’ll be starring in a 15-episode audio series produced by Big Finish Productions.
He described returning to Big Finish as surprisingly simple: you participate, enjoy yourself, and before you know it, you’ve saved the world once more.
Glorious 39 is available to watch now on Lionsgate+ in the UK.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
