David Tennant shares “heartbreaking” detail about his kids as he reflects on family change
David Tennant recently disclosed a deeply sad aspect concerning his home life, as his parents are now absent.
As a gamer, I find myself blessed with five wonderful kids – Olive, Wilfred, Doris, and Birdie, along with Georgia’s son Ty. Although they never had the chance to meet my late mother-in-law, who passed away in 2007, her legacy lives on through our shared stories and memories.
In a recent post on the Radio Times, he expressed that being apart from his parents at present is deeply sad. Regrettably, his mother never had the chance to meet any of her grandchildren, which is quite painful since she would have cherished their company.
The actor mentioned that almost everyone except one had the chance to meet his father, which was delightful. However, he noted with concern that people’s memories of his dad were starting to weaken.
David continued to discuss his unique approach to parenting compared to his own parents, explaining: “Since my parents were consistently firm and reliable, I never had any doubts about their unwavering dedication to us, even though it was never explicitly expressed.
What stands out is how frequently we’re expressing affection at home lately, with people constantly saying ‘I love you.’ It’s a beautiful gesture, and I appreciate it, but it feels quite unusual for me.
In our household while growing up, I can’t recall hearing this explicitly stated. However, I’ve never had any reason to question its truthfulness; it was more of an understood fact rather than a spoken one.
The article is published prior to the celebrity’s second annual hosting of the British Academy Film Awards, an event happening this weekend.
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that David has secured a part in the fresh ITV production titled “The Hack“, delving into the infamous phone hacking scandal associated with News of the World.
As a fan, I’d be thrilled to step into the shoes of the renowned investigative journalist, Nick Davies, in this upcoming production. Notably, Robert Carlyle portrays Dave Cook, a former Met Police Detective Chief Superintendent, and Toby Jones brings Alan Rusbridger, a former editor at The Guardian, to life on screen.
