David Tennant and Danny Dyer’s ’80s drama confirmed for much-wanted season 2
As a long-time fan of British dramas, I can confidently say that the renewal of “Rivals” for a second season has brought a fresh wave of excitement to my heart. Having grown up with Dame Jilly Cooper’s novels and the tales of Rutshire’s elite, this adaptation has been a dream come true. The all-star cast and the intricate storyline have made it a must-watch for me, and I can’t wait to see what unfolds in season two.
The highly anticipated series “Rivals,” boasting an illustrious ensemble including David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Emily Atack, and Nafessa Williams, has been officially greenlit for another season! Exciting news, as Disney has confirmed the production of a second installment based on Jilly Cooper’s adaption.
Today’s news comes following a triumphant first season streamed online, where the announcement was subsequently made.
Approximately four decades following the publication of her novel “Rivals”, author Dame Jilly Cooper has enjoyed witnessing the world grow fond of her cherished characters from Rutshire’s Finest, as she herself expressed.
Working with The Happy Prince and Disney+ for the first season has been like living a fairy tale. I’m absolutely thrilled, almost ecstatic, and can hardly wait to bring back my character Rupert Campbell-Black and the entire cast in season two!
Show boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins also responded to the renewal announcement, saying: “It’s been magical to receive the love back from viewers that we put into Rivals.
As a devoted admirer, I can tell you that the remarkable team behind “Rivals” embarked on a mission to craft the very television series that viewers would cherish and eagerly revisit. It brings me immense joy to share that we’re making our way back to Rutshire, joining hands with Jilly and Disney+ once more. This magical land holds a unique allure, and I couldn’t be more excited about our return!
The narrative unfolds in a fictitious English county named Rutshire, where it explores the dramatic tug-of-war within the merciless realm of independent television during the 1980s. Central to the plot is the fierce competition between characters Rupert Campbell-Black (portrayed by Alex Hassell) and Tony Baddingham (played by David Tennant).
Undoubtedly, enthusiasts of the popular series can’t help but feel thrilled as a second season is coming up, considering the nail-biting ending of the first one.
Rivals is available to stream on Disney Plus. It will return for season 2.
